Hi I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone else has had this odd side effect if they missed their effexor. A few weeks ago I wound up going two days with out the effexor and I had serious issues. I became uncontrollable and just went generally nuts. Yes I know this is a general side effect of dropping off effexor for more than a day. There are reasons you never ever go cold turkey. But I've just never had such an intense amount of anger coming out while missing meds for such a short time.
Has anyone else ever had this happen? Also I've noticed that my anxiety is becoming more and more of an issue. Is anyone else having these side effects or do I just need to look at reducing the stress in my life?

Any answers, comments or generals thoughts would be wonderful. =)~

I have taken Effexor in the past (2003) and had quite a difficult time titrating down. LOTS of anxiety for a me - a person who already was having anxiety issues. It was very hard for me to stop Effexor but I did it.

I do not take Phen but am looking into it along with other meds, including Meridia. I *think* Meridia is similar to Effexor in that it affects serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. If that's the case - no thanks. But I'm not sure.

Definitely stick to your Effexor dosage and only change it under your doc's supervision. It's powerful stuff.

I hear ya! I stopped effexor xr cold turkey early June. I thought I would hurt someone. Not good withdrawals at all. The doc refused to see me until a month from the day I called him. It was about 2 weeks into quitting, and he didn't even give a ...! I have yet to be able to lose anyweight even though I stopped effexor, and it is almost August. I started June 23. Effexor weight gain is awful. I put on at least 35 pounds, and not because I ate everything or never worked out. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. My weight won't come off, and I have been doing at least 30 minutes of areobics daily. I am really getting discouraged. Let me know if I can answer anymore questions.
