Hi,

I posted my Acomplia experience above in a post with my phentermine experience, but for those who are interested, I'll repost about my experience the last four months taking the new diet drug, Acomplia.

Firstly, hello, as I am new here, although certainly not new to the weight loss game. Like most of you, I have tried everything under the sun, sometimes with temporary success and mostly with failure.

Last winter, after a couple of months on Phentermine, I'd lost 28 pounds, but that also included 4-5 mile walks 5-6 days a week. Eventually, I found the effects of the drug diminishing as my body acclimated to it. About that time, the news was awash in stories about this new wonder drug, Acomplia, that was just given approval in Europe. It is the first in a new class of drugs called CB 1 Blockers. Not only is it suppose to work wonders as far as weight loss, but it also lowered triglycerides and improved good cholesterol, as well as lowered insulin resistance. If haven't heard of it and you're interested, here's the site of the press release:
http://en.sanofi-aventis.com/events/event1/en/pdf/060621_acomplia_eu_en.pdf

Of course, as per usual the FDA lags way behind on these things, so I had to get a prescription from my US doctor and go through a Canadian pharmacy to get it from the UK. About $150 for 28 pills (you can find several pharmacy sites that charge for an online "consultation" where they'll provide you with a prescription, but that costs about an extra $100). It's not like Phentermine in that it is to be taken indefinitely in order to maintain weight loss.

The first couple of months I lost 15 pounds without much effort, but it was getting expensive and I wondered if I could do better on my own. I then found a site that was selling the generic (rimonabant) for about half of what I was buying the brand name (I dont' believe I can post it, but I'll email it to you if you want to PM me). The good news is that the FDA is supposed to give its blessing later this year, so it should be available in the States, although here it will be called Zimulti instead of Acomplia.

The generic (rimonabant) seems to be working the same as the brand name and I've lost another 8 pounds. Not exactly melting off of me, but it's much better than gaining 8. I'm hoping to be close to my goal by Christmas.

We'll see.

Good luck to all!

Is your generic rimonabant a blue, aspirin-shaped pill? I've read that there is some question as to whether the generic version acts the same as the name brand. I have this blue pill and after one week, I really have seen no difference or felt a lessening of appetite.

i am and it ****s. nothing is as strong as phentermine. since phentermines are hard to get; i'm taking Acomplia now. i cant exercise hard-core like i used to when i was on phen. maybe it takes a while to kick in? i dont know, but it's frustrating.

I have tried a diff version of acomplia. It generic and called Riomont. I am currently on phen and it seems like I am at a stand still. So I bought Riomont and took it for a few days. It did nothing for me. Idk if it takes a bit to get in your system or what..So I got another refill of phen, hoping to lose more weight

Hello from France!
I am new here and as I ordered Phentermine on this site with lab2, they sent me phenterimine-calcium pyruvate.... funny and i don't think it is the same.... explanation ???? So, I went to see my doctor, he gave me Acomplia that i am using for 6 days now. It seems like the effects would start in 2 or 3 weeks.... So I am crossing my fingers and hope it will help me in living a better life !
Sorry for my poor english...
I will come back to tell every body how it works
bye bye

:confused:I'm on day 4 of the generic Acomplia (Slimbant). I don't feel anything good or bad, but since I ordered from an online pharmacy there were no instructions included.

Marilouu said it takes a few weeks to start working. I read all the info from the manufacturer but they don't say how long it takes to start working. I guess I'll wait & see. I hope it works. The Phen wears off too quickly for me, I don't get enough of a lasting effect to actually lose any weight.

Any one with any info on generic Acomplia, especially Slimbant, please post your comments. Thanks

hya all my name is romankitten from the uk.
i am extreamly over weight have had high blod pressure & was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes september!
like everyone else i have trid numerous diets etc only to lose weight & gain it agin & more!! i have tried xenacol in the past & reductal xenacol gave bad bowel upsets & left you with badly stained panties therefore had to wear a pad! so that dint work & dint really lose much weight!!
my g.p then tried me on reductal which was supposed to surpress your appitite! this had no affect on me wats so ever!!

so september 2008 like i say was diagnosed with diabtese & my G.P recomended i try acomplia!
however they she did say te side affects can be suicedal & deppression!
she sed i will give u a months trial on perscription but if you have any side affects of deppression STOP TAKING THEM RIGHT AWAY!!
well i have been on acomplia now 6 weeks so far & have not had any side affects what so ever!!

These really do work i have so far lost 10lbs!!
As far as im concerned i love them they worked almost imediatley i felt full no hunger pangs my appitite has decreased dramatically!!
it has also change my thoughts on food i eat a lot more healthier! i now listen to my body & eat only wen i feel hungry!
Also wen i do eat i am full a lot faster & always feel as if i have just eaten 6 course meal!

However, it has just been taken off the market in the UK i am not due to see my G.P too next week on friday!!
I dont know what is going to happen now the drug has been taken off the market! The F.D.A say it coz the have had patients with too many suicedal affects & deppression!!
wll all i can say is if you are deppressed or suffer from deppression mabe that is why this drug had agrevaited it!? & problems & side affects have been noticed!?
BUT for me they are working wonders & if thats the only side affect i get say 6 month down the line deppression then i will say its time to stop taking the drug!!
i know wen i go see my G.P he will no longer prescribe them for me!!
Therefore i will deffo be buying them off line!! I typed in the drug name on google & asked it to find me the cheepest online price!
it came up with a sight where you can buy 60 acomplia tablets incl post & packing for £30 uk pounds!
therefore if my G.P can no longer prescribe them i will buy them with or without his permission!

This is the only drug that has helped me it was my last hope! it would have meant surgery the next step which i dont want!!!
hope this gives anyone else a little help or a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Yay, Romankitten! I am happy that it is working for you!

I do have one question, tho... how many pounds is a stone? I am not sure what you weigh, or how much you have lost.

I am currently taking Phentermine and in the past month I have lost 18 pounds!

I took accomplia about 2 years ago and it did absolutely nothing for me. I didnt feel like i had taken anything. It was a waste of money.
