I tried the Phen/fen years ago when it was on the market and was on it for nearly 11 mo. Never lost one single pound. I started with the Phentermine a few weeks ago and was on the 30 mg capsules and to date, didn't lose a single pound. This am, I was able to get the bigger dose, 37.5 mg and hope it will do something.
My body is a weird one, it's a tough sell and usually nothing works. Even when I was strength training, I lost 11% body fat in the first month and toned up some places but bulked up in others (I had a personal trainer). No weight lost though. When I don't eat breakfast, I fare better than when I do because when I do, I GAIN weight!!
I've done the clinical trials and out of about 5 drugs, 2 have worked, Rimonabant (aka Acomplia not available in the US as yet) and another one that began to work immediately and I lost 33lbs the first year but they changed the dosage (down to 2mg) when they said they wouldn't and I quit losing. My body is very resistant to losing weight. I weigh about 238 and don't look it at all. I've been told by a number of people I look about 175 or so, I balance it well but I need to lose it for many reasons, one being health and am at a loss as to what to do.
By the way, if anyone has AAA roadside service, use the prescription benefits because Walgreen's wanted $50 cash/$45 AAA benefit for the 30 day supply of 37.5 mg but Walmart wanted $26.75 cash/$13.00 AAA benefit for the same thing! Most insurances don't cover weight loss unless you fight for it and even then it's not guaranteed, but this savings is a big help!

Good luck. I'm right there with you. Nothing seems to work. :(
My dr would only prescribe 15mg and it didn't do anything -- not even taking two a day. Losing the 11% body fat is good though. I'm trying to build muscle...figure if nothing else I can build more muscle and less fat.

Well, it's been nearly a week now, tomorrow I believe, and here is my total loss for the week:.........drum roll please.....
ZERO AS IN BIG FAT NOTHING!!!!!!
Not even ONE measly single pound. I've noticed I'm not as hungry and don't eat as much, not that I didn't eat much prior to starting but did eat 3 square even when not hungry and basically the 'right' foods and not much of them, but I'm not at all hungry (this past week) and I've not lost a SINGLE BLESSED POUND!! That s u c k s!

Bunnyz-
Do you have a food log I could look at? You can copy and paste it into a repost or private IM me if you'd like. Although weight has always been a struggle for me, I'd like to think I have a clue being 1 semester away from nursing school and having taken 3 nutrition classes in college. Any medical issues? Diabetes?

No medical issues, no diabetes or pre.........I'm a CMA myself, though not practicing. As I said, nothing usually works for me.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. I personally noticed a big difference when I made up my mind that it was going to work, no matter what I had to do. But that can be tough if you have tried over and over. Try to stay positive!
What is your exersize routine right now? Maybe switch it up?

I found long ago that mind over matter doesn't work. Not "if you have no mind it doesn't matter" like my husband teases LOL!! Seriously, mind over matter does not work!! PERIOD. Whether I make up my mind (it is) or not, my mind has nothing to do with weight loss or I'd be skinny minny! Proof in the pudding: I have been a guinea pig many times over at Lovelace Scientific Resources with the weight loss studies. I knew when I was on the real drug vs placebo from how my body reacted. As I said previously, the Rimanobant a.k.a. Acomplia took 11 months before it kicked in and the very last one I was on at 6 mg kicked in from day one and I lost 33# in a year! The drugs in between did NOT work for me at all and the clinical doctor stated it didn't work for anyone else. This last one at 6mg (name unknown), stopped working when I was put on 2mg. Remember these are blind studies and we are not told if we are on a drug or placebo but I know how my body/hunger reacts with and without assistance. So, in closing, if it were mind over matter, I would assume all were actual drugs and I would have lost the weight or more. AND, I never ever once exercised....I have a hard time doing anything but walking since I now have hip and pelvis arthritis thanks to a drunk driver that nearly killed me 27 yrs ago. But hubby and I ride ATV's a lot when the weather is warm and that IS a workout, arms, legs from standing, waist from moving with the quad etc. I feel so much better when I ride!
Update, it is after my period where I normally gain water weight, but I have lost a measly 3# in 3 wks. The last couple days I've been hungry during the day which is not normal since I've been taking the Phentermine. But oh well, I'm not a quitter, even if it doesn't work.....I at least give it a fair shot. :)

Okay maybe you have pcos or something? Maybe you're insulin resistant. You might could benefit from taking metformin or something.

im sure at this point you have been tested for everything that could not be working right but if not that would be my first option. im sorry to hear this isnt working for you, that is my worst fear-that this doesnt work.
best wishes to you, i hope you can eventually get the trial drug that did work. untill then just stick to your plan, not gaining weight is still an acomplishment!

Its your diet just keep out as much fat and sugars as possible n go easy on the carbs, stick to anything natural eg fruits, vegies, yoghurt, Bran cereal for protein and fibre, eggs are good just not too many, and any kind of nuts. Chicken and fish are great for ur meats.
If its not that maybe you have a thyroid condition or your lacking certain Vitamins. Get a blood test done to determine all your levels eg Cholestorol, Iron. and Good luck.
