Hello everyone!
I was recently diagnosed by my endo hypothyroid last August and have been taking Armour thyroid since. As most of you know, a lot of Dr.'s do not believe in prescribing phentermine, including mine, so I have resorted into ordering it online...I have taken it prior from a diet dr. for 15 years, but did not want to go back to him. Anyways, my question is does anyone take thyroid meds and take phentermine?

Thanks so much!

Awesome! Thanks so much for replying! :)
How long have you been taking phen? What kind of thyroid meds are you on?

Hey!!

I have been taking phen for 5 days!! I have lost 3 lbs and I probably could have lost more but I haven't been drinking enough water and I have a broken foot so that really slows me down!! But I was totally happy with the 3lbs!! I take the generic for synthroid and I take 175 mcg which I think is kind of high because my mom only takes 88 mcg. I have had a hard time getting my thyroid levels down and it has been about 2 1/2 years since i started on meds!! My doc kept telling me that when my levels were right I would start losing weight so I hope so!! I hope the phen gives me the boost I need!! Good luck!!

Congrats!!! You are doing wonderful! I hope you can get your levels right. I know how frustrating it can be, although mine were definitely not too bad. My TSH was around 3.6 and I felt terrible so I cannot imagine how you felt! Take care! <3

I've been on Phen for a month and have lost 25lbs and 5 inches off my waist! I have hypothyroidism and take levothyroxin, my doc gave them both to me and said it is fine to take them at the same time.

My Dr put me on Levoxyl 50 MCG. I had gained some weight over the past 2 yrs. I never knew why. I never felt any abnormal symptoms. I went to the Dr, October 2007, and he did routine blood work, and the next day they called me and told me. I was like hypo-WHAT? What is that? I had never heard of it before. So, I've been on this Levoxyl since October, and honestly I dont feel any difference from before. I've even told my Dr. He rechecked my thyroid in the beginning of January 2008, and he said that the levels are now normal, and he was not going to adjust my medication. I havent lost weight since being on Levoxyl. At that time, he asked me why my weight was going up, and I did know. I don't eat crazy fast food. I had also been exercising a lot at that time. So, he prescribed me only one month Phen 37.5. I started taking it towards the end of January, and I really did not like the way that it made me feel, so I stopped after 4 days. I was also concerned because I have Mitral Valve Prolapse and was concerned that I should not be taking this pill. I consulted my Dr, and he stated that only for one month would not have any long term effects. I have recently restarted the pill, on 2/26, and have been working out as well. I'm wondering how long it is going to take to notice a difference? I am currently 5'1" 142lbs, and would like to get to 115-120lbs. Thanks!

I Hypothyroidism as wll. (under active Thyroid - The thyroid controls your motabolism & growth) . I take medicine daily and over the past few yrs I have been gaining. Last yr I was determined to lose the weight - I started eating right and became obsessed with the gym. I was still the same weight and couldnt figure out why. I did some research and found out that people with under active thyroids have a harder time losing weight. not only do you need to eat less you have to work harder. It was so frustrating so I decided to see my specialist who gave me a perscription for Phen. I felt like thats not gonna help becasue i dont eat alot .... now that i look back I didnt eat alot I just ate all the wrong foods. I started out taking a whole pill then while taking a step class one day I felt like I was gonna faint my heart was poounding and that was scary. So I immediately stopped taking it and said i would just do it on my own. Well its a yr later and I still have been going to the gym maybe not eating the best but i diff gave up many of the bad habits. About a month ago I seen the pills in the draw which expire next month (April) so i said why waste my money why not give it a try. This time i only take half the pill, I may start taking half mid morning and the other half later in the afternoon. Last yr I was 160 (most weighed) over the past few months the scale has not moved from 157. 4 days after taking Phen it moved to 152 however the very next week it was 154/155 which it still says today. Bottom line its a struggle just keep at it - the weight took time to put on and will take time to get off. Continue to eat right & exercise. It does get frustrating but you will get there. my goal was 140 April 1st - I'll be lucky if I will see a steady 150.
