Can anyone answer a question. I have been on Phentermine for a year now. I don't feel that it is working. I feel that my body is amune to it. Can this be possible? The doctors tell me no. I feel that the only thing that it is doing for me is giving me energy. I am really thinking of Hypnosis. Has anyone tried Hypnosis?:mad::(:)

No have not tryed it but I heard it works. I am thinking of trying it myself, but you can be amune to it. My doctor told me I would be on it for 3 months then off for 2 monthes then on again, because your body can become use to it, I am noticing that now, this is my 3rd month and i'm starting to have hungry pains, and also long term will slow your weight loss down.

The phentermine will stop working after a whle. 5-htp will get it to kick in again. Look it up on line. Good luck!!

Phentermine is not meant to be used long term. The clinical recommendation is 8-12 weeks. It isn't so much that your body gets IMMUNE to the phen, it just gets used to the side effects, so you feel like it is not working.

I would take a break and then go back on it and see if that makes a difference. In the end you are going to have to practice good diet and exercise techniques. The phen can do just so much.

Hey, I use to take phentermine and phendimetrazine in 2005.. i was on it for about 5 months and i lost 80 pounds.... Its true that your body will get use to it, my doctor who prescribed phen to me told me to go on and off. For about a week Change your excercise habits and your meal plan to confuse the body and then start to take phen it will work.

How long did it take you to loose the 17 lbs? I am currently the same weight that you started at. I would also like to get to 120, or 115. I don't eat sweet snacks. What is your tactics? I would love to loose 17 lbs!!

I am a long time user of phentermine and yes you can become immune to it.
I stopped using it last year.
I have been on and off oh phentermine since 2003.

when I was on it 4 years ago my doctor in another state told me exactly what my doctor here in NC told me yesterday about it...you WILL build a tolerance to phentermine and should only be on it 4 months at a time with a minimum of 1 month break before starting it again. If you have been on it a year you might want to get off of it for a couple of months and then start again.

I have been on phen for a year now. I have continued to lose weight but at a slower rate. I have seen my doctor once a month since first starting. I am going to decrease my doseage next month. I do feel that your body does get used to drug after awhile.
I am going to talk to my doctor about going off for awhile.

I take 37.5mg once a day and with the exception of the first day I still feel hungry with it too. I am continuing to take it but wonder what is is really doing to aid my weight loss if not supressing my appetite. Perhaps I would be even more hungry if I were not on it. I only wish it would continue to work like it did on day one.

I started phen June of 2007. I had the feeling for a while that it wasnt really working anymore and in january decided to take a break. I took a four month break. I just started again about a week ago and it is working just like new. :D The only bad part is I have to go through all of the first time symptoms again..... Insomnia mostly.

A year? WOW! My doctor said he would only prescribe it for several months at a time. He will keep writing me scripts until September. If I haven't reached my goal weight by then, I will have to stay off Phen for 2-3 months before he will write a script again. I would definitely take a break for a month or two if I were you. When you start back you should see big results again!

I have read, all your comments, I would just like to add that I took phen ten yeasrs ago, and I lost
five stones. It was great, however it is good to have a break it works better then.
I AM GOING TO START AGAIN, AS I have gained six stones, since I gave up smoking.

I have tried hynotherapy. This was not what you hear for overeating and smoking where you come to a long seminar and you're 'cured'. It is more of a long term thing to really get to the roots of your issues. I only went twice because although it was good, I don't have a problem opening up and talking and searching on my own, and it didn't feel any differently, and it was very expensive for my budget.

What I've heard about the other type of hypnosis is that it can work for a while but is very short term. I would imagine it's kind of like phen for most people. It helps you out for a while so that you can establish new habits, and then you're on your own.

Good luck.

I understand what cha' sayin' ...you have to change the old habits. I had to start going to bed early or finding something else to do.....or eat something healthy. For example, fruit cups, fruit, carrots...look at the things you like to eat....let me know how it works. We R ALL HERE 4 U Girlie...

Well, I began taking adipex January 2007 and took it off and on for a couple months and lost 40 lbs. I didn't take adipex again until June 2008 and it is working again. I agree, taking a break is best. I plan on taking them this month and take a break for the 1st 2 weeks in August. During that time, I may do WW. But, I like the idea of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off but then I have to get use the side effect......insomia.....
