Im so excited to have lost 11 lbs in only one week! Is that even healthy? Will it stay off though and will my weight loss slow down or stop soon? I hope not! I have been looking at other peoples diaries and they slowed down after the first week. How can I prevent this? thanks.

I also have lost alot of weight quicky and I think it does slow down but I do not think it means you gain the weight back unless you change your habits.. quick working out, start eating badly again... the same ole things... new habits for a lifetime so you changes can stay forever....

Some of the 11 pounds was probably water weight and your weight loss will slow down the follow weeks but that doesn't mean the weight los will stop. Keep eating healthy and make short term small goals. There wil be weeks were you only lose 2 pounds and maybe a week where you lose 0. I'm just trying to be honest but don't let that get you down keep your eyes on the prize and just keep going.
Cheers,

I think I lost weight slower then anyone on this board. Only 3.5 lbs a MONTH was my average. It took me 8 months to reach my goal. Yep it was certainly a long haul but I have to say It is WORTH every minute.
when I got frustrated I came to this forum and read and chatted. I remained focused largely because of this forum. Hang in there take one day at a time. These are easy words to say but the most difficult thing is to remain focused when you don't see results. I am now thinner then I was in 8th grade.WHEN YOU GET TO YOUR GOAL OMG OMG money can't buy that feeling. People you see won't even recognize you. Exercising will be so much easier without the extra weight. My blood pressure dropped dramaticaly.

I was on phen-d for a little over 3 months and lost 40 pounds. I haven't been on it since June, and I weigh 130 pounds. I have only gained 2 pounds back, but that's because I have eaten some crap lately. I am in a size 6/8. I was in 14/16. I feel better than I have in years. You can definitely maintain, but it's up to you. Like gottadothis said, you gotta want it and work at it. I eat what I want, within moderation. I certainly should work out more, but I have had a busy couple of months. So, the 2 pounds is completely my fault. Good luck to you. I hope to get back on track after the new year so I can lose those last 10 pounds of my goal.

I continue to loose weight. Mostly because I am working very hard at it. I have been able to change my whole style of eating and because it has taken me so very long to loose my weight, I am able to actually say that my style of eating has changed drastically. I tweak my diet and learned so much in the time I had. In the end you just realize that it doesn't really matter how long it takes as long as you get there.:D

Congrats on the weight loss. That is normal to loose that much weight in your first few weeks. It all depends on you initial weight, you calorie intake, and your exercise. Unfortunately, you are not going to loose 11 lbs every week from now on. You may have other great weeks but they will not all be such high numbers. As you get closer to a "normal" body weight for you height, it will taper off and may almost seem like you have hit a rut. At this point, you will most likely need to make a change in eating and/or exercise in order to continue to loose weight. Good luck. Just remember, be happy with what you lost! It took a while to put the weight on, it will take some time to take it off. Plus if you loose it too fast, it will come back on easy. Learning how to eat and staying active is the way to make it stay off forever because you are making good habits that will stick after you are gone with Phentermine!

Okay. I have some STRONG opinions about this topic. At times I have felt discouraged because you see so many posts about quick drops in weight. I've been there - done that. Everytime I've gained it back. THERE IS HOPE! This is not a doom and gloom message here.
I want this weight to stay off for good. After 16 years of weight loss, weight gain, and on and on, I have figured out what will help me maintain when I reach my goal. Well, actually I have not figured this out. This is inspiration from praying to Heavenly Father.
I have lost 14 pounds in ten weeks. That is approximately 1.5/week. That is the rate we're are all supposed to be losing at - 1.5 - 2 lbs/week if we expect to keep this off. While to some that may be discouraging because we have all played the "get it off me as quick as possible" game, we must all remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. I used to be the hare. I now know it is IMPERATIVE to be the tortoise if I'm going to keep this off for good.
Here is where the inspiration came in. I know I lose weight at 1500-1700 calories, but what is the MOST amount of calories I can eat in a day to lose weight while exercising three days a week? I'm 213 and 5'11. Don't be surprised if you all lose at similar calorie levels (no matter your height!) Your body NEEDS food! Eating 1200-1500 will get the weight off quick, but it is not sustainable after you go off the phen OR ANY DIET program. You'll be back up to larger portions - so why not find the most amount of food YOUR body can eat so that when you go off the phen, you MAINTAIN FOR GOOD! I know from journaling that this is how much I lose:
1800-1900/day = 2 lbs. week
1950/day = around the same, 1.8 - 2 lbs/week
2000/day = 1.5/week
2100-2300/day = 1 lb/week
2400-2500 = I maintain at this amount. Even off of Phentermine. That is my maintenance amount with 2-3 days of exercise/week.
GET THIS THOUGH! I averaged 2500/day last week and LOST TWO POUNDS!!!!!!!!!
This is how I know I will keep it off. I had success with Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers, but when I go off of those plans, I gained the weight back all four times! This is because I went from 1600-1700 calories back up to 2300/day. But if your body is used to the higher calorie limit, I actually lose at 2300 and MAINTAIN at 2500/day because it is not shocked by the change! If you start to gain, all you have to do is take it down 100-200/day calories to lose it. NOT a drop of 800 calories/day!
I wish everyone knew this! I wish I knew it earlier in life rather than eating such skimpy meals in order to lose my weight. Think of it this way also: What are you going to do when you plateau at 1400 calories/day with 5-6 days of exercise? You probably are thinking 1300 calories or make it seven days of exercise. So you do that. Then you plateau at 1300 and seven days. You cannot keep starving your body. I've done this and been out of control fanatical.
It's amazing! I am losing weight at almost double what I used to eat and about half the exercise!
FIND YOUR WEIGHT LOSS RATE!!! See what happens when you eat 1800 then 1900 then 2000/day. What is the most YOU can eat and still lose weight? When you stay the same or go up a pound, then you know! If you gain a pound, BIG DEAL!!!! You have knowledge of how much to eat now so that you can lose it!!! Allow yourself to do this! This is what will keep the weight off!
My doctor is so proud of me for doing this! Not to sound all churchy, but God did create our bodies and He knows how they work.
