When the body builds a tolerance to Phen., could one then transition to Meridia and continue?
What I'm thinking is..... when we build a tolerance to Phen., we can then take Meridia until we build a tolerance to IT...then go back on the Phen. etc.... until we lose all of the weight we want to lose.
Is this possible? Are they too close chemically to where if we have a tolerance to one we have one to both?

Any thoughts???

I don't believe Phen and Meridia have much in common at all.

I'm glad this thread here to discuss this. In June, my doctor suggested I try the Phentermine. He had just returned from a conference in another state and one of the presenters was a leading bariatric surgeon. The surgeon stated that doctors aren't trying diet pills with their patients before they refer them for surgery. I've been on the Phentermine since June and although the weight loss has been slow recently, I've been pleased. At my appointment last week, the doctor suggested I try Meridia. He said this was what the surgeon recommened: 3 months of Phentermine, 1 month of Meridia, then back on Phentermine for 3 months.

So he gave me a ** for Meridia, but my insurance has to give prior authorization. So I'm still on the Phentermine until then. But I'm willing to give it a try....I also asked my doctor for the name of the surgeon so I can find more of his thoughts on weight loss.

Good luck on your weight loss program!
