I've been taking PHENTERMINE 37.5 since 1997 {that's 10years} going off only preganacy and a month here and there.
I absolutely believe i am addicted to it JUST to maintain my weight at this point. I was 168 when i started and have been able to maintain my weight at about 145 for 5 years. The only time i've gained weight is when i go OFF phentermine.... 5-7lbs quite quickly. It's frustrating.. So i am interested in hearing from those who have either been taking it for a long time and successfully gone off Phentermine without gaining..Thanks

You are never supposed to quit cold turkey...Your Doctor is supposed to wein you off slowley by decreasing the milligrams...thats why you quickley gain some weight back.....talk to your doctor about this you may need to be on a lower dosage for a while....

Hi!
I wish I could answer your question. I've only been on Phen for just over 6 months. I will admit that I'm probably addicted to it already. This feeling of being able to get out of bed in the morning, having energy to work out, and seeing results on the scale is euphoric. I'll get my month's supply, tell myself that this is "it," and then I panic at the end of the month, because I think I'm going to gain weight if I stop taking it.
I see you are in Maryland. So am I, but I just moved here. Where are you going to get your Phen? I need to find a doc out here. I just lost a lot of weight and my BMI is about a 23-24 now (was 30 when I started). I tried a bariatric doctor here who wouldn't prescribe it (of course not, I don't LOOK like I need it anymore, but I'm not to my healthy goal weight yet, either!). So what doctor is understanding of someone who isn't obese anymore, but still needs Phen to help lose those last few pounds and maintain??

I've only been on phen for a month and it is going so well. I'm nervous about going off of it after being on for my 3 months. I guess in that time I will hopefully have retrained myself on eating habits and exercise habits. :o Only time will tell. .......
