I think 4 lbs is great. That's 2 lbs per week and you just started. This is my first day taking phen and I would be pleased as punch to lose 4 lbs in two weeks especially since I have been working my a.. off at the gym for two months and haven't lost a lb.

I have been on phen 37.5 for 1 week and lost 5 lbs. What works for me is exercising regularly and cutting back calories. My calorie intake is between 1200-1500. I only drink water and green tea unsweetend, if i need sugar in something I use splenda. I also note my food intake in a weight loss diary. Don't get frustrated 4 pounds is great,

I started working out on Jan.16th, I go to the gym everyday on my lunch break and walk for 20 minutes on the treadmill. Sometimes it feels like i'm wasting my time because I only have 20 minutes to workout.

Thats good you can burn a lot in 20 min. My Dr said she only works out for 30 min on the treadmill. Have you tried working out at home.

You could do some strengthening exercises at home. Breaking up your routine into two sessions each day works great also! Some magazines actually suggest doing that.

The body fights tooth and nail to hold on to every ounce. Taking the "long view" is part of the battle, I think. I have to change my habits so that I don't balloon after I stop the phentermine. In the past, I have gained 15 pounds in three or four days, like at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have to take the long view and realize that these changes have to be permanent, or all of my hard work is for nothing.

That 20 mins. you get in at lunchtime really does count! Look at it this way....say you burn 100 calories at lunchtime..that's 500 calories a week, or about .75 or 1.00 lb. a month, say 10-12 lbs. a year....sure beats gaining that same weight.

congrats on every ounce we lose!

I gain around 5 lbs around the week of TOM every month...could that be a possible reason for the gain?

Also, what type of eating changes have you made?
And...are you drinking WATER, WATER, WATER...

I lost 7 lbs. the first 2 weeks, then got stuck for about 2 weeks. then lost 2 lbs and so on. I think the less you have to lose, the slower it comes off. Mine is extremely slow now that i only have about 10 more to go. I guess it's that last 10 lbs. they always talk about. But without the phen i'd be in alot worse shape  I plan on taking the phen a couple days a week for maintenance after i reach my goal. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. You'll start losing. Some people just lose alot slower too. My age is a factor (46 - and already in menopause) I've found that to be a HUGE road block in my progress. Good luck.

Yes it is easy to gain that much weigh that quickly.. I gained 80 pounds in about 3 months.

The important thing to remember is exactly what everyone said...

1. It takes time, don't lose hope.

plus of course..
2. Phentermine just stops your appetite, just taking it doesn't lose weight (sigh unfortunately)
3. I believe they say it takes 20 minutes of workout (regardless of the workout) before the body begins using fat reserves for energy (aka burning fat). Does this mean your 20 minute workout is a waste? Definitely not! You dont lay comotose after your workout do you?? You're body is still burning on the way back to work, etc. In fact, your body continues to burn at an excellerated work after a workout (even if you do play dead haha!)

Keep positive! :)

I've been on phentermine 37.5mg now for about 3 1/2 months and have lost 42 pounds. I have found that my weight does go up and down weekly but I'm still losing the inches in my mid section. Don't give up as my wife tells me stay off the scales don't weigh yourself everyday. Try walking at least 30 minutes everyday to.

Hi everyone. I've been on & off phen for a year this month. I lost 25lbs & have kept it off, although I still wanted to lose 10 more lbs, it was harder to get off. I am 43 and active. I, too, believe that the last pounds are the hardest & we get discouraged by reading posts of losing so much at once by others. I started taking Hoodia, it makes me fuller faster, not necessarily an appetite suppressor, remember-everyone's body chemistry is different, what works for one may not work for another. Hang in there!!!

I guess I am another slow loser. I've been on phentermine for about 2 months now and have only lost 10 pounds. I mean I have lost inches, but the weight is coming off rather slowly. :(

I have been on Phen since May 27, 2006. I have lost 11 lbs to date. I look at this way it took a while to gain the weight and it will take some time to lose it. I think it is better for your body to lose a little slower. My eatting habits have changed a bunch, I am eating somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200-1500 calories daily and drinking water until I can't hold anymore. No one around me has noticed the first 11 lbs gone so I am waiting to see who will notice. My husbands says he can tell a little so that means I will stick to it and try harder. I will lose the weight and you can too. I am happy for what I have achieved so far. You should be too. At least you didn't pickup 10 lbs.

Don't worry about the slow weight loss. Think of it this way...your'e still LOSING the weight..maybe not as fast as you like..but you WEIGH LESS than you did when you started, right? I started off at 306# on 05 June...and lost (to date) 12.8 lbs...sure, I'd want it to be more..but as I said...it's still less than what I was.

My wife and I are walking EVERY day for one mile..from the driveway..around the neighborhood and back. Takes us right at 23 minutes to walk a mile. Tomorrow (July 4) is my ONE MONTH mark of my weight loss project. Effective tomorrow, I fully intend to increase my walking to TWO miles (twice around the neighborhood), and ..what the heck..if I'm feeling up to it..may even push myself to get a small amount of jogging in...(okay, okay..a very fast walk then...)!

Good luck to you. Keep up the great work. Trust me (all of us..) it will all work out.

Regards,

Dr. Ed

You do bring up a very good point. It took a while to gain the weight and it will take awhile for it to come off. Thanks for putting things in perspective for me. ;)

Hello, I'm new here and I'm wondering how do you get your doctor to prescribe it? I don't really have a PCP so I'm not sure where to go. I talked to my OB/GYN but they told me I can't get it thru them. Has any one tried that Phentramin?

I was on Phen. for 10 months and have lost a total of 35 pounds, at first it took several months for me to just lose 5 lbs. and then in about my 4-5 month the weight started coming off regularly at 1-2 lbs. per week and then other weeks I would lose nothing.

From my experience your body goes in a cycle, for me I lose all my weight the week after my cycle and it would drive me crazy the other 3 weeks of the month getting on the scale, so I stopped doing that. Previously I had lost 75 lbs. on my own just watching what I ate, working out, eliminating alcohol etc. and then 5 years later I put on 35-40 lbs. and it would not come off so I tried Phen.

As frustrating as it is because we want the weight off NOW it just doesn't happen that way and the older you get the harder it is to do and I believe depending how many times you have lost weight and put it back on plays a major role as well.

Don't get discouraged, a pound lost is a pound not there, when i loose the weight slow, like now, take some hamburger meat, weigh it out, lookat the weight you have lost, then when you see what it looks like, you will be impressed not depressed, because the weight of the burger meat, looks discusting, then you get a mental picture of what your lost weight looks like. Go to the butcher, he'll show you the amount i'm talking about. You will feel great with a visual. God bless you as you take the hardest journey of your life, YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello gretter19

Yes I lost 6lb in two days but it doesnt continue like that for me. that may be my total loss for the month so dont be discouraged if it seems to come to a grinding halt.

Also dont forget to measure, sometimes you lose inches and not Lbs.

Good luck

Hi all,

I am getting so frustrated with not loosing the weight. I have been taking Phen for two months now and I have only lost 7 lbs. I lost 5 lbs the first two weeks then nothing for the next 3 weeks. The I lost two pounds and now nothing. I'm ready to throw in the towel. I have watched my sister loose 35 lbs, my sister in-law loose 15 lbs, my cousin loose 30 lbs and my neice loose 25 lbs. What about me, I'm soooooo tired of being the one rooting everyone else on and I don't loose anything. I'm exercising 4 x's a week 45 min to 1 hour. I drink 64 ounce of water each day. I tried to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day but that was hard so I eat 3 meals a days about 1200 calories, very few fried foods, increased my fruits and veggies. Now I'm just lost and feeling hopeless. What else is there to do????

[B]Wow,
Your number's are amazing. I would exstatic, but I can Understand the disappointment on the 3 week with no loss, how do you excercise 8 miles a day. That is fantastic. I wish I had your drive. I'm sorry I don't have really anything to offer you, I've only been taking phen for 3 days, lol, and I get on my elliptical for 20 mins when I wake up, I know I should do more. Lazy I guess. and tired, lol
keep up the good work, you are an inspiration
Thanx,

The only thing I can offer is... that maybe switch things up and shock you body. Sometimes we get into a routine and out body gets use to it so do something completely different in the exercise department but I also lost very quickly the first two weeks but the two months I have been on the Phen both months I have lost close to 15lbs so it will average out at the end of the month... you weight loss so far is awesome keep up the good work... do not let it get you down....

Hi all,
I have a friend who says she lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks by using Wu-Yi tea. George has a blog about it at Wu-Yi tea story. (http://www.wu-yi-tea-success-story.blogspot.com)
