I posted before on digital scale recommendations and got lots of info! Thanks! Been checking online and decided on the Tanita brand (good reviews) and then I knew I wanted at least the body fat - then I found out they also measure water! very cool! I wanted one quick so i went to Linens n things and the only one that measured fat & water also did metabolic age, daily calorie intake (DCI) & bone mass!! wow! I bit the bullet ( it was $100) and got it ... man how depressing to see those numbers!! I know I am overweight etc but yikes! I did it several times this evening and the #'s were fairly consistant ... my weight is higher than my old scale :( - but I weigh in the morning usually and this was evening .. anyway here are the pitiful #'s
weight: 213.2  yesterday on old scale 208.5
fat % : 43.9
water%: 40.7
bone mass: 6.0 lbs
dci to maintain: 2778
metabolic age: 50   WTF? I am 35!
very sad .... how did I let myself get this way?

See this is why I get the cheap 13 dollar scale. If it says mean things to me, I won't bat an eyelash about throwing out a window :D

I believe that a scale is a scale....it all is relative when it comes to our weight. I use one and only one scale to weigh myself...only weigh myself in the morning. And only once a week..unless I cheat and get on during the week. I also believe that any amount of weight off is a good thing and makes us feel good. The feel of our clothes (looser), the ability to go up and down stairs without being in pain. The feeling of joy when the scale moves even one pound down. I read in one of these posts somewhere that we should not be "slaves to our scales"....SO TRUE!!
FL...I know how u feel...how did we get this way...it is sad....BUT, we are trying our best to do something about it...and if a tiny little white pill helps us along..then why not!! OBesity is a disease...many many other people take pills for diseases.
I will not...turn back!!!! I will move forward and make myself more healthy....and I will not let this fat control me any longer!!!!!!!!!!! Wow sounds good huh??? Some days I feel so strong and others I dont....but the point is...tomorrow is another day. Dont be sad....be happy and proud of yourself that you are taking the steps to a better more healthy life. Good luck to all of us.

I agree with both Deb and Jenasis! Take the flippin thing back and tell them you don't like what it says ;)
BTW- How the he$$ can that scale tell how dense your bones are by stepping on it?

Scale back... get a refund.... and remember that your numbers are better than you started and you are closer to your goal.
Keep your eyes on the road ahead. The whats, when and whys, doesn't matter, does it? What matters is: you are on the road to a better tomorrow, progress that will make each day a reminder of your success.
I hope you realize that the success you have had so far, is a motivator to those who are just starting. Get your money back and put it away to reward yourself for the goals that you reach.
This will be a better investment for you! :) HUGS!

I vote different-
I say keep the scale.
Just because we don't like what it says (believe me I've wanted to throw mine across the room too) doesn't mean it isnt correct. My doctor uses the same scale you bought. Want my initial stats???
Last weigh in- at doc:
232.8
BMI- 42.6
Fat percentage- 50.9%
Fat Mass- This is embarassing but I will tell you anyway- 118.4
LBM- body weight without fat- 114.4
Water weight- 83.8# (just so you know you want this number to be about higher than 50% of your body weight- so mine is way bad)
And I look at it as something to work on.
Basically I was carrying along MORE FAT THAN ANYTHING ELSE COMBINED IN MY FREAKING BODY!!! I wanted to cry. But I said no f-in way. I am going to get in the healthy ranges. You know where you are, and now- YOU ARE GOING TO KICK IT IN THE A** and keep losing. You will work hard and you will get healthy. Believe it or not- digital scales are very accurate- you have one of the best ones- Dr. Phil uses it. ;) Oh and do not weigh yourself on carpet. It messes up the weigh in and you over-report your weight. Just a little info ;)
Good luck with your weight loss!!

Keep the scale and be proud that you are moving forward in a positive direction.
