There are many people who have a hard time understanding why certain people are overweight. The believe it has to do with being lazy, not caring about yourself and your body or or not having enough willpower to walk away from food when, in their opinion, it is easy to push away from the table. This attitude is a subject talked about constantly. Everyone has certain bad habits, character flaws and things that they would rather hide, but when you are heavy you can't hid what one of your biggest challenges in life is--food. So, daily we are faced with the challenge of not only being heavy but what it does to self-esteem. I've noticed that some people try harder to please people so they will like them.
What can we do about this feeling? In the past, a lot of us used food to help us get thru our feelings that it's not fair to be treated this way because of weight, etc.
The main thing is to accept ourselves. People are more apt to listen to you when you accept yourself. It's easier to love and accept love when you accept yourself. It's overpowering youself to find the answers from within instead of ooking to other peole to validate you just because you can't hide the fac that you are not a perfect size 6. No one else can validate you th e way you can every day.
Here's something: look in the bathroom mirror in the morning and name something that you like about yourself. Don't make promises to yourself that you can'tkeep. Keep the promises small (ex: I will be down 2 pounds next week, etc). No one is perfect. It's sad that picking on another person is funny or looking down at another person is somehow empowering.
Motivation tools
1. say something nice about yourself everyday
2. Food is not a band aid for poor self esteem
3. Buy something pretty to make you feel good
(new scarf or shirt, or pretty jewelry)
4. Accept they way you are today and change
the things you can change
5. love yourself
