What do you do all day?
Ive been doing this for over 20 yrs now and i m SICK OF IT! I dont want to clean house all day, dutifully waiting for hubby to come home.
I dont have a car now..and i feel trapped.
I could get a hobby, but i would be at home all day doing it alone.
Im bored and im lonely.
Poor me! lol

What about dropping and picking up your hubby off at work and you taking the car during the daytime?
I know there is only so much cleaning, watching TV that one can do. I was in your position (1 yr) before my job. I can totally relate. I picked up sewing. But was bored during the daytime and even became an internet junkie..surfed the net all day on various forums. I don't even have kids to care for so it was worse at least they could have keep me entertained.
Hey congrats on the weight loss.

My hubby works too far away and starts too early in the morning for me to do that, but it was a good idea.
Thanks for the congrats.

do you live near any place that you could maybe get a part time job at? a school, department store, grocery store, gas station? even a few hours a day would make a difference - socializing and making a few extra bucks.
just an idea.......

Some one at another forum suggested volunteering at my kids school so i think i will give that some thought.
Really i just need to stop feeling sorry for myself. I know lots of moms would love to stay home for their families, but i guess many of us want what we cant have.
Thanks guys!

Hey Dawn, I've been stay at home for a long time too. I do tons of volunteer work at my son's school, and 2 years ago (this September), I went back to school (after a 12 year hiatas-sp-). And in between, I took some classes at the Open U (classes taught by people on quilting, cooking with copper, etc. That kind of thing. And I took a pottery class. I've learned a lot. And volunteering at old folks homes is a real plus. My daughter and I both did volunteer work one year at this home for older people who are recovering from illness. Talk about fun. Those peeps in their 80s have great advice on everything from death to s e x.
Anyhow, kudos to you on wanting to get out and do something different. BTW, I luv your beater(sp). Mickey is my boy.

Maybe think about schooling. If I had the time I'd like to take some journaling/writing classes and maybe sewing. You could make some extra money if you took some classes in medical transcription and do it from home. I think it's definitely important to have something you feel you can make a difference in and contribute to society, etc. I don't know how available school is in your area, but I would assume medical transcription is a great trade to have in any area of the world. It's stress free too and can be very interesting. You can take courses on-line too. Let me know if you ever want more info on it.

Whew, I guess I kids are still too little for me to have free time!? :) They are almost 3, so not in school yet. I consider myself kinda a SAHM, though I work from home at night. When the kids start school I will switch to days and be off at night when they are home! :) So I guess cleaning, etc will move to evening time for me. I wish I had some free time now!! Enjoy it!

I like all these suggestions. I will be off of work for a while now, and need something to do to occupy myself.
Ebay and Nachos was real fun, only the scale moved the wrong way so I think I need something else to do with my time. I've got a lot of craft projects planned for the summer already. Books to read, hopefully I can hit the pool and swim soon. My rescue dog that is on a diet won't let a night go by without a walk. She's got that determined look in her eye, and is down 11 lbs. So I have her to entertain me. Other than that I'm at a loss so keep the suggestions coming!

I work part time, 2 days a week. I love the balance. One day a week I help out at my son's school. The days I work I actually look forward to going into the office! But 2 days later I'm back at home again.
I just started making jewelry and am loving that. I also scrapbook and Ebay and numerous other things. I always keep busy. I have several friends who don't work and we meet for lunch sometimes.
I am not bored at all. And when I really, really need some down time, I lay on the couch and read US Magazine and don't feel guilty one little bit!

I would feel trapped without a car too. We have a lot of activities that we do during the day and I need to have transportation! Is there any way you can maybe get a car? Nothing fancy, just something to get you around.
I have a pool, but my poolman is my husband, lol.

I could probably get a car...but driving is what contributed to my weight gain. Public transport is good where i live and i can walk to most places. I just need to stop making excuses and get off my butt.
