On June 18th, I am going to take a 17 mile bike ride - at midnight!! Memphis is having a Midnight Classic Bike tour through the city, with the proceeds benefitting Senior Services and I am going to ride, too. I have never done an organized ride before, and the ****hest distance I have gone is 11 miles but I have 2 weeks to get prepared. Besides, it is not a race and we have 3 hours to finish the course. I wish I had someone to ride with me, but my husband isn't interested (especially at midnight!) and I don't know anyone else who rides. At least I won't be alone - there will be about 1200 riders! Wish me luck! :)

Well I wish I lived closer I would ride with you I love that kind of stuff I just did a five k race it felt so good I did it in 30min10sec 197 place out of 698 runners. This was the best motivation I have ever done for myself. I want to do a bike one next but I also cant find anyone to ride with and it is 3 hours away so I dont want to go alone.
Good luck no matter what you place it will be awsome when you cross the finish line go for it.

Wishiwas120 - good for you on your 5k accomplishment! Way to go!
Thanks for the compliment. It took 3 1/2 months for me to lose 30lbs (from 184lbs to 154lbs from 10/30/04 - 2/22/05); however, it the next 2 months I only lost 7 more pounds . I stopped taking phen a couple of weeks ago and am still losing, although not as quickly (my weigh in today was 145lbs). The first 30 came off pretty fast, the next 9 has been really slow, but sure. Funny thing is now when I lose a pound or two I can really feel it in the way my clothes fit. I guess since I don't have too much more to go, I am more aware of each pound on my body. I am just grateful to still be losing!

that is good to hear you are still losing so many talk about stopping and gaining weight back I just started taking phen last week. I am exited about the weight loss but already scared to stop taking it. You are awsome keep it up. Have you ever gone to a spin class at a gym Those will get you prepared for a race faster than anything.

When I started this journey, I was determined not to go on a diet. For me, a diet is something you start and stop and I knew that if I am going to be successful that I had to change my thinking when it comes to food. When it came time for me to stop taking the phen I had the confidence to be able to do it on my own. I still have a lot of phen left, but wanted to prove to myself that I can lose this last 15lbs on my own.
Great idea about a spinning class. That might be the best way for me to get prepared because the weather here is unpredictible so I never know if it will be raining after work!

Hey, I'm only a few hours from Memphis. Very familiar with the city. I lived in West Memphis (Arkansas) for a while.
Do you know where I could find some more info on this- is there a website? I would LOVE to go!!!

I spoke to a guy at the bike shop and he said it is SO MUCH FUN!! There should be about 1200 riders of all ages. I am really jazzed about this ride!
