I was prescribed a 30 day supply and all went well, I lost 20lbs. I slacked off the fat free diet until I could see the doc and get another 30 day supply. I saw him and have started for about 2 weeks and the phen doesn't seem to have the effect{no hunger pains} that it did before. I'm considering taking 2 a day instead of 1 a day. Has anybody experienced this or have tried 2 a day?

I have also wondered the same thing. I have been on them for a little over a month and can't even tell I am on them any more. I was considering stopping for a month and taking them again to get the good effects back. I would like to know if anyone has taken two a day and what they experienced.

I'm no expert, but maybe you should just up the dosage to the max--37.5 mg. You may already have that, though. I think that under no circumstances should you double up. Those things really increase your heart rate, and I think too much can cause heart problems (and you'll probably never sleep again). Stay safe!

Sadie, that's about what happened to me, I was off of the phen for almost a month until I could see the doc. It doesn't seem to have the effect that it did earlier. I'm taking the 37.5mg

Hi!
I was prescibed 2 37.5mg of Phen a day. I take one in the morning at 6:30 AM and one at 1:00 PM. I have not had any negative side effects other than TOM being a little messed up, I was 17 days late last month, but from what I have read on here, that is not uncommon even on 1 Phen a day. I would talk to your Dr about it and see what he thinks though. Maybe it depends on how much you have to lose. I had 100+ pounds to lose and I am 6'1. Perhaps Dr's go by the size you already are when they prescribe Phen. If you only have, say 50 pounds to lose, and you are under 200 pounds they only prescribe one a day. Just a guess. See what your Dr says, I wouldn't up the dose without his approval.

Thanks justfluffy, good advice on the weight, I'm 5'8" and weighed 281, so I could lose 90 to 100 lbs. I'll ask the doc, I think maybe my system is becoming immune to the dosage.

Sometimes I think my system also becomes immune to the Phen, that is when I take my break. I took a 3 day break from Phen this last weekend and started again yesterday. It worked! I was not hungry at all yesterday or today. I got one of those horrible Phen headaches last night with the nausea, but I can live through that, if it will give me a jump start.

I got 60 pills from my doctor for a 30 day supply (37.5), the directions on the bottle say to take 2x a day and to take the 2nd one at or before 2pm (to prevent sleeplessness)... i never do, afraid that i would never sleep.... but I think u can if you want too... its what my prescription bottle says

Ya'll Try taking a break instead of upping your dosage of phen. Also, instead of taking a WHOLE 37.5 in the morning, take 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the afternoon if you have late night hunger. But don't think this pill is supposed to make you stop eating totally- YOU ARE SUPPOSED to be hungry. You should feel hunger when your body needs nutrients. You should just not have that OMG ravenous hunger- that is unless you don't eat all day and its 7pm. ;)
I actually had to cut my dosage from a whole pill of 37.5 to 1/2 first thing in the am. If you have late night hunger, then take your one pill later in the day instead of taking all these pills. Its just not healthy. And make sure you are under the close eye of your doctor. Its always easier to maintain willpower earlier in the day, so if you have a problem with late night hunger, then take it later.
Also, its not immune- its drug tolerance. Its the exact same thing that cocaine users have when they need more of their drug to get the same high (effect) or when people need more alcohol to get the same drunk... that's the reason we aren't supposed to take phen longer than three months.
And just one more thing. I've noticed- in myself and others- that people lose weight quickly the first few weeks or so, but then it slows down. This is because water retention and lost water weight in the beginning. You shouldn't really lose more than 1-2 lbs per week... I read that you should not lose more than 1% of your weight weekly- so if you are 150 lbs thats only 1.5 lbs. This expectation to lose 30 lbs in one month is totally off... and leaves us up for failure... This is why when people stop their diets they gain it all back. Because they go back to old eating habits. Make a life long lifestyle change and thats the only way it works.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.

my prescription is for 30mg 1x a day. I have taken 2 a day around 10am without docs say-so.
it did keep me up late.I have also stopped for a day or two then gotten back on and that seems to help more (for me anyways). being up late was the only draw back for me(for taking 2). but i'm not, by any means, advising anyone else to do this. I did b/c i just wanted to see what would happen. it's kinda like taking 2 or 3 dex.

she said that right. it's drug tolerance not immunity. thats why i took more, i was on dexadrine for 8 years so my body was use to that feeling. I'm not saying that makes it o.k.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING TAKING MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED DOSAGE.
However, that said, I did try taking more than the recommended once, when I need to be awake. I took 1 and 1/2 of the 37.5. I was seriously GEEKED UP. I took it because my grandfather died, I had to drive 10 hours for the funeral, turn around, and drive back for a really big test that a jerk of a prof. wouldn't let me make up. Well, it worked, I was definately awake and jittery and not hungry... but my heart was beating so fast I could almost see it through my chest, and I know it wasn't good for me.
I am young, younger than most on here I think, and you got to keep in mind that as you get older you have more to worry about. (Not bashing anyone older than me! Just stating a fact. In a few years, I will have more to worry about, too. :) )
I would NOT recommend doubling up, but I felt like it would be okay to share my experience.

I have posted once before about this. I have personaly taken 1 and a 1/2 of 37.5 and did not have any real side affects from doing so, just a lil xtra constipation. I did it for 7 days, lost 4 lbs and then i took a break for 7 days , when I got back on I only took 1 37.5. I am not saying it is okay to do so, but I am just saying that it has been done. Not everyone is the same, you need to know your tolerence levels and LIMITS.

OH- I should add this: When I did it, I had been off of Phen altogether for about a month already, so my system was not conditioned to taking it regularly anymore. :)

I'v doubled before but couldn't get to sleep that night.I was up at 2a watching t.v. just laughing away until I realized oh chit you gotta get up at 4:45am  :blabla:
The suggestion to split them is a good idea!Like at 9am I take half of my phen then at 200pm I take the other half and I have not been hungry!9i started this two days ago.And I had energy to get on my treadmill at 9:30pm

I would not recommend taking above the recommended dosage. Isn't this why Ephedra was banned for a while? People were taking much more than the recommended dosage and suffering side affects so it got banned. I can't imagine a doctor prescribing 37.5 MG twice a day, but who knows. They seem so reluctant to prescribe it at all!
