What is going on in New Orleans is horrifying, whether the victims are black, white, brown, yellow...humans are humans are humans. And humans are suffering. I don't know why it has taken so long to get help to our own people, our AMERICAN people and I won't assume that it's because they are any certain race. I just don't know why. And right now, it doesn't matter to me why. That is an issue we can all deal with later. The most important issue today is getting every last victim the shelter, food, medical care and water they need and to give those who were killed a proper burial.

I don't know anything about Kanye West. I heard what he said at the telethon replayed on the radio this morning and I don't know what his deal was, but he sounded to me like he was drunk. No offense to him but I couldn't follow anything he was saying. He was all over the place with his words. Perhaps it was a sign of how fired up and emotional he was, but I got nothing about of his speech, except that George W. Bush is prejudice. I have no first hand knowledge of GWB being prejudice and that's an awfully serious allegation and one that should not be taken lightly or given lightly.

I don't know if help would have come sooner if the majority of the victims were white or yellow or whatever color. And right now, I don't care. It's not important to me right now. That isn't something that is of the utmost importance right now...getting them out is.

Tif, girl, you are all fired up and I don't know what started it because there are too many posts to sift through, but it had to be something major for you to go on like that cuz you are usually the peacemaker. But I say bravo to you for opening your home to victims. I wish I had the room, I'd do the same.

I am not a big fan of Kanye West but what he said really was closer to the truth than what people want to believe. If this was going on in the Hamptons with people on their roofs it would have never taken them this long to rescue them or send food and water.

Its a tragedy any way you look at it but it is the governments fault so many are STILL dying. If they had put a plan in action immediatly so many people would not have died. I also am seriously offended that they sent people down there to shoot looters etc. If I were down there and my children didnt have food and water I would do whatever was necessary to take care of my children. Everyone is sitting around pointing fingers and blaming each other when people are still stranded with no food and water. We need to put our differences aside and take care of these people be they white black or green. We have sent several trucks out of my small town here with supplies, food and water to Mississippi and New Orleans. If you arent doing your part in helping them you cant really complain. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. I think we need to put our opinions aside for the moment until we can get all these people into safe places with food and water. Bush needs to step up to the plate and take some damn action. He needs to stop trying to pass the buck and get his *** down there and get the situation under control and quick. If this was his family down there he wouldnt be draggin his feet.

Its sad when it takes a tragedy like this to see how our leaders REALLY are in the event of an emergency. I know where my vote WONT be next election!

I saw Kanye on tv that night, i was confused at first and than i realized how much he was feeling, maybe the statement offened some, im glad that in our wonderful country we the people have the right to freedom of speech, emotions are high people are dead and noone really knows whats going to happen next, i am white, my son is half black, i want to try and teach him that there is one race... the human race, its sad that others dont feel this way or cant see the light but one day with gods grace they will, the question is what are we doing for the surviors of this horrible act? me and my friends are going to hold a bottle and can drive in our subdivision and at my nephews school and take donations for the red cross thats what i can do as a american and if i didnt have a 6month old son i would be down south doing whatever i could to help every black white asian latino or whatever race is down there suffering, i recently started going to church again and i think that god has givin me this direction to get on phen and to open my eyes to our beautiful mother earth, our children need us... we as adults need to be role models for our childrens future so they dont have to be put through all of this race war bullshcit.....
peace and love to all..

Times like this makes you wonder about your own safety and that of your family. Im white, hubby is black and we have 3 beautiful bi racial childen. Watching all this on the news is only an eye opener for me because if something like that were to go down here in my area I know now what I can expect from the government and leaders. This should have never happened. What is so ironic is the tragedy wasnt hurricane Katrina, the immediate actions AFTER Katrina is what the real tragedy is. We cannot help what mother nature deals us but more damage was done in the aftermath of the hurricane than during I think.

I will be taking precautions now to secure my familys well being in case of emergency situations. I will be as prepared one can be because NOW I know how our so called leaders handle situations when its not of no direct concern of theirs. Just makes you wonder what kind of place we live in when race and location plays a factor of if you live or die, eat or starve, or die because of lack of something so simple as water. I still blame Bush and FEMA for this! Although I can blame them all day its not helping matters so Im going to put my money where my mouth is and help in any way I can. Everyone else should try to do the same. Any little bit matters right now to the victims of this aweful event.

when everyone here goes thru a huricane or natural disaster then u will see the government is slow no matter what color u r.Don't put ur faith in who it should never be given to only give it to GOD ALMIGHTY who does move mountains for u.HE is the only 1 deserving of it.We all have to get off the band wagon with our hands out for the gov to fill them & do what we know is right for us & ask GOD for guidance when we do so.Trust me the gov ain't changing for u or me anytime soon.
