I have been on and off phen for the past couple of years. I experienced the regular side effects up until the past few months. I started back on phen in aug. ( I am also taking prozac-just a note in case it may be due to some med interaction) anyhow these past few months I have been experiencing some weird side effects and I am not even sure if it due to the phen but I was off of it for the past month and did not have these side effects and started back yesterday and today my eye swelled up again-so I am a bit concerned. The first time I had one of these things happen it completely freaked me out-I was going to town with my cousin and out of no where my bottom lower lip swelled up, and when I say swelled I mean SWELLED! I was freaked I had no idea what was going on (I was also quite embarassed-to say the least). Within minutes, and I am talking 5 at the most, my lip went from normal to GIGANTIC! This has NEVER happened to me before. It was awful and scary! The weird thing is it went down with 2-3 hours, and this was just a fore-sight of what was to come. Within the next few weeks different areas of my upper and lower lip would swell up out of nowhere and then go down in a couple of hours-it even happened while I was sleeping once. Ihave been racking my brain trying to figure out what it could be, at first I thought it was this new vitamen I was taking so I immediatly stopped taking it, then I thought it might be the prozac weekly I had recently tried-but to no avail it kept happening and a couple times the same thing happend to my eye (the lid part). I started getting itchy, like a bug bit me, sometimes and I would get these welt like things on my body, and like the swelling, they to subsided after a couple of hours. I thought this may be do to nreves? But I cant help but think the two are connected. With my eye and lip both I get an irratated feeling (sometimes even itchy like) right before it swells. If anyone could tell me what may be causing this I would really appreciate it. I have no where else to turn, I am afraid to go to the dr plus I have no ins and my reg dr is a quack (one of those guys you go to to get free samples-lol). I really like phentermine but I cannot keep taking it with these side effects because it is scaring me. Please someone out there reply with some help-or some info :O) I am desperate. I have tried searching the web but everytime I put in the keywords of my symptoms I get nasty web sites and it is getting annoying, plus my computer is slow and old. Thanks in advance for ANY info.

It is VERY important that you stop taking the Phenteramine!! Sometimes when people are allergic to certain things such as medications, they can develop something called angioedema. Basically it is the symptoms you described such as the swollen eyes and lips. This condition can get worse to the point that your airways swell closed and YOU CAN NOT BREATH.

You definatly should let your Dr. know what happened even if you are nervous to, because this is really a serious reaction to a medication.

Basically you are probably truly "allergic" to the phen.

I don't want to scare you but you really really should talk to your Dr.

I have had a reaction before (with the swelling bottom or top lip-with the lip being feverish also) It was only a couple of times and I was not on Phen but an antibiotic or some type of cold prescribed medication. The sudden occurance is scary I consulted right away with dr. he told me that sometimes our bodies can be allergic to the medication but since I had taken this medicine before and never had a reaction we went a little further in investigating it. We eventually found that in whatever medication I was on (this was 10 years ago) and the combination of coffee or any caffiene related substance would trigger a reaction. No more caffiene no more reaction. But the dr. said it could be a food substance or any intake that could combine with a drug. If this is not happening every day have you tried to determine any pattern? I would try to pay close attention to what you drank or ate within a couple hours of the swelling. Let us know what you find out! Wish you the best!
