Help! My cheeks have become dry and scaley..yes, it is lovely to behold! It is not acne or anything, just really dry and a little itchy. I am wondering if I am developing an allergy to the phen? A friend told me to lay off for awhile, so this is my 4th day without it, and the dryness is still there. I am on my 6th month of the phen. Has anyone else had this happen and why? Yes, I know the side effects, but why would they start all of a sudden when for 5 months I had no side effects? Thanks...

Hey, mahv...
Sounds to me like maybe this is your skin adjusting to the changing fall/winter weather? Have you recently moved to an area where the climate is different? Are you in an office building during the day that runs the heating/air all the time? Are you exercising outside, and the cold air is chapping your skin? Are you eating enough fat?
These are just a few of the things that I thought of.
Hope maybe some of them might help! Good luck, and I would call a doc if it get's worse, or just wont clear up.

Mahv.....
I think you need some good moisturizer, and you will be all soft again on the cheeks. The weather is changing, and so is our skin. I don't think you would be getting a reaction 5 months later. Oil of Olay is a great moisturizer.
If you are overly dry, message into cheeks, then repeat 5 minutes later. Good luck! Missy :)

Try changing to a nonallergenic moisturizer. I use Clinique products only - they seem a bit pricey, but they last a long time, and seem to be the only thing that doesn't irritate my skin.

mahv,
my skin is a disaster too, and i have no idea whether or not it is related to phen. acne all over the place. tried many things, not working. i have a dermatologist appt, and when i get there, i will ask and report back if phen has any affect on the skin.
good luck, jbaby

I would think the only relation to phen might be the "dry mouth" syndrome. I mean.. if it is drying out our mouths, it is probably drying out the rest of us as well. :) My skin always does this during the weather change. I also use Clinique. The "Moisture Surge" product is awesome. Maybe up your water intake, run a humidifier (or at least set out a bucket of water near a vent) and get some good moisturizer. You might also need to use an exfoliating glove or something to get rid of the flakes.
