Hi there. I have always been pre-occupied w/ my weight. Although in my heart I know I don't (didn't) need to lose weight, my head always tells me I need to. So I heard about Phentermine and that it works really good........I just wanted a little help in shaking maybe 10 lbs, so I "fibbed" and ordered some 37.5 mg tablets on-line. Anyway, not even 3 weeks into them (I should have not even taken them for that long I know) I started to feel light-headed everytime I stood up or moved around a lot. And then one morning I woke up feeling as though I was catching a flu bug or something. My fever kept climbing and eventually I found myself at the E.R. with a temperature of 103.2, heart rate of 164 b.p.m. and a sky-high blood pressure. I was having kneck and chest pains everytime i breathed deep and eventually the pain was so intense my breathing was barely there because every breath I took was so painful. They (the doctors) were sort of lost but then a cat-scan showed an awful case of Pneumococal Pneumonia and yes, it was caused by the Phentermine. I am not quite sure how they came to the conclusion that it was the Phentermine that caused it but evidentelly my blood-work gave it away. I know that probably sounds crazy but I am a healthy 22 year-old who has never been sick a day in her life (let alone have to spend 5 days at the Hospital) and then out of no-where I get Pneumonia while taking (what I now know are) highly dangerous diet pills. I hope no one else here has to deal with what I did but if you do some searching into the old Fen-Phen stuff (I know the "Fen" part was banned leaving the legal "Phen" on the market) you will come across the stories of the deaths that Fen-Phen caused and many are related to Pneumonia. I know that those deaths were not caused by Phentermine alone and apparently Phentermine is being advertised as safe and all that but I think that all of you on this drug should do a little research just make sure you know what you are doing. I mean if Fen-Phen was pulled because of certain flaws that apparently Phentermine alone has as well then that seems pretty damn scary. Maybe I am the only one who has has a bad experience with Phentermine and everyone else has had great results. I hope that is the case but I just wanted to let everyone know what it can (and did) do. No offense, but why on God's green earth would you take a major drug like this to lose 10 pounds?

This is why this medication is for the obese and not for everyone. Ever read the label on a bottle of what we all think is harmless asprin? Make ya think twice about taking it if you do.
Ive been on it for over 3 months without problem. Blood pressure low, heart good. Its one of the reasons you need to be monitored by a doc. No medication should be toyed with or taken improperly.

WE should not toy with any medication, and we should know all the facts.
THERE is a possibility that Linze while taking the phentermine set herself up to contract this bacteria. BY not eating properly, getting enough sleep, she very well could have caused her body to become resistant to the bacteria. We do not know all the facts. ANYTHING is a possibility.
I understand Linze, because at a young age I was just like her. I did not need to lose any weight, but I was obsessed with being thin! I truly did not learn what overweight meant until I reached my early forties. I am at least thirty pounds overweight. Hopefully Linze has learned by her experience. God knows I was fortunate in that I did not cause harm to my body.

Its people like her that do the "fibbing" online to order the diet pills , and will eventually make it harder for people like us who over overweight and actually "need" the medication to lose weight. Im sorry this happened to you, but Just like "Phen -Phen"
Which I lost agreat deal of weight on, with no side affects, was pulled because of people getting the meds who only needed to lose 10 lbs. or so. I work for a Doctor and I am going to ask him about your condition.
My Doctor personally prescribed them for me, and did alot of research before he would give his employee a medication that would harm me.

Linze,
I definetly hear what you are saying. I as well am a healthy 22 year old girl and I went on Phen last year to lose 15 lbs. had knoe problems, so I do not think due to the little amount of weight you needed to lose had any reasoning to why this happened to you.
But like the other person said, maybe your body was a little on the "weak" side. I don't know if you were eating well or what. But I was only eating one time a day. But I faithfully drank my OJ and took my vitamins.
Howver, I did get pregnant while I was taking the Phen and developed a Toxemia in my eith month of preg. I in no way was in a high risk category. My b/p is not back to it's baseline and now that I am on the meds again, they are making me feel very differently than last time and my b/p is also creeping up again???
I'll never know if the Phen caused the Toxemia?? I do know that any kind of diet pill is not safe and it all depends on how desperate you are to lose. Now days everything is unsafe for us. But what we women do to look good.
Good luck!
