this is the first time i've posted. in fact, this is the first time i have joined any kind of online forum/chat room, and i've done so specifically b/c i am at a loss as to what to do - i've been on phentermine for 3 months, exercise regularly, drink a daily average of 1/2 gal. to 1 gallon of water, eat responsibly, etc., and i've only lost 5 pounds. my doctor is okay with the fact that i've at least lost a little, but is concerned that there may be something else wrong (hormones? i dunno), since i'm not losing like most people on this medicine. has anyone else out there had this kind of experience? am ready to give up!

Don't give up! Let your doctor check out all those other possibilities. There are some real "losers" here who will give you some advice. Just wait a bit. The forum has been acting strangely today, so some of the regular people aren't here. It seems to be fixed now, so it won't be too long before you have some help.

Welcome, I'm sorry to hear your struggling and don't want you to get discouraged. I know a few of us on the forum are slow losers.
I personally have only lost about 3-4 pounds a month and some months nothing. (but I haven't gained and I've firmed up.) My body fat is 14% less than when I started and I was wearing 16's and now a size 8-10. The kicker is I've only lost 25 pounds in a year. I continue to lose slowly and I work out 5 or 6 days a week. I know I've exchanged muscle for fat and thats why my weight loss is so little. This could be what your going through. If it is you shouldn't be down about it because in the long run your gonna look great. Keep doing what your doing and let your doctor run some test.
If you need some help to stay focused we're all here for the same thing. Take it one day at a time and good luck.

thank you both for replying! this means so much - you have no idea (or do you?). just knowing others are out there and understand.
it's so hard to explain - i get these nudge-wink looks from folks, like i'm sneaking packs of oreos and candy bars into my routine or something.
and i'm glad to know that there are slow-losers out there. i'd be willing to settle for 4 pounds per month at this point!

I know exactly how you feel. I am very discouraged. I have been on phen since 11/1. I have only lost 10 lbs. It is almost two months. I have read where some lose that in two weeks. I have begun to think something is wrong with me. Please keep us posted about the tests the doctor gives you. Maybe I can ask my Dr. for the same tests. I am really going to stick with the regime for the next months to see the results. I have another prescription for phen. I am a little reluctant to get it fill, because the weight is not coming off. I am thinking about during the Atkins diet. I lost 27 lbs from it about 2 years ago.
