Okay this is sort of freakish. Does anyone have acrylics? Has anyone had them for a while?

I have had acrylics for 7 years, and have never EVER had a problem. I got my nails done on Saturday and several of my fingers were killing me!! TOday I notice my fingers are really swollen and sore. 3 of my fingers are bleeding around the nail bed. WTF!!

Maybe I'm retaining water and am swollen? Maybe they switched products and I am allergic??

I cannot wait to get rid of these damn things!!

I used to have them, and loved them, but ended up with a fungal infection under my right thumbnail. It took 2 rounds of VERY expensive medication, 4 doctors visits, 4 liver tests, and much upset just to get rid of it. I miss the nails, but I'll never do it again.

The very first time I had it done, my fingers ached like they'd been hit with a hammer. No bleeding, though. I think I'd get rid of them now, if I were you!

I have had them for years, and never had a problem before. EEK!! I am going to the same place too.

I think she hacked at me, I think she hit me on the skin with the dremel type file they use. I have NEVER EVER even had sore fingers before. I called her and said I was coming in there.

SO we'll see. Ulgh. This ****s!! I planned in taking them off right after my trip to Florida at the end of January.

Have them taken off right away!! Ask her if she used a clean tool on you. My girlfriend does this for a living and she only uses one file per customer. Each customer has their own. You may want to call a doctor and tell them what is happening and see if they think you may need antibotic. Sorry this has happened to you.

Good luck.

GET THEM OFF NOW! I had acrylics for years! One day I went to a new place because they were closer to a new job I started. The first vist was ok (or so I thought) until I went back for a fill. They had raised up from the nail making a little pocket of air. I had that happen before so I wasn't to concerned about it. I thought she do like how my regular guy would do. To my untrained eye I thought she did. I got my fill, paint and went home. I went back for a fill and when she took the polish off(dark color) my nails were black and squishy! Holly $hi+ I took antibotics and called the health dept. A YEAR later my nail are still not the same and as much as I LOVE to look I can't bring myself to get another set. I REALLY hope that your nails are ok! Get them off and see a dr. Good Luck my Phren!

Hey! I agree with everyone else, its better to take them off and be safe than sorry later. I just wanted to let you know the same thing happens to me when my manicurist isn't on top of things and uses her files too close to my cuticles. My fingers will be sore and bleed a bit for a few days and there is swelling. I've never had an infection though. I don't mean to say that nothing is wrong with yours, I don't know. I just wanted to throw out another possibility.....I love my nails!

WHAT EVERY YOU DO DON'T SOAK THEM OFF !!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU ARE BLEEDING AND HAVE OPEN CUTS YOU CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR SKIN. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD JUST GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR DOCTERS OFFICE. YOU COULD HAVE EITHER A FUNGUS OR A SERIOUS BURN FROM THE DRILL. EITHER WAY YOUR DOCTER WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO. AND THE EASIEST WAY TO GET THE NAILS OFF IF THAT IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. RELAX SHE MIGHT HAVE JUST CUT YOU WITH THE DRILL. AND IT IS NOTHING . BUT BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

I USED TO DO NAILS AND MY TEACHER (OR SHOULD I SAY STATE BOARD) SAYS ALWAYS REFER TO DOCTER INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIX IT YOUR SELF , BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

Here is my update...

I placed bacitracin on the open cuts, per the doctors request, he said to keep a thick coat of antibiotic on them overnight and see how they feel in the AM. He said most likely she used a dirty file or tool, and I am having an allergic reaction to the filth. GREEEEEEEEEEAT!!

So here I am this morning, most of the swelling has subsided, except for my thumb. It is very red and very sore. He says make sure to keep the antibiotic on and come in to see him. He said not to remove them either. It could cause more harm than good. So there it is...morw incompetence from the North Shore of Massachusetts!!

Ulgh, how I miss Cape Cod....

I'm so glad you got a hold of a doctor. I was
really worried about you. Let us know what
the doctor says this morning.
