Okay, sweets apparently are my main downfall (among many other mini downfalls - would those be pitfalls?) and I need to stop eating them. So, anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to give up sweets?? HELP!

Ooh this time of the year seems to be the hardest when it comes to resisting sweets.
Believe me Ive had my share these past few days.
I don't really have any magical wisdom to pass your way! sorry :(
But...
What I do is I just tell myself ENOUGH already and remind myself how much working out I will have to do to burn off what I am stuffing in my face. Or how I will feel like a bloated, lazy whale if I keep eating!
Give it a try. :)
Good Luck

Holly....something my good friend Kaybee said to me....

BACK AWAY FROM THE SWEETS!!!!!!!
Actually it was baklava....
I tell ya the best way to get sweets out of your system is to go on Atkins for a few days all protien((sorry atkins followers I am not a big fan)) but it will take the cravings away

Much luck!!!

sweets and pastries--things like that are my downfall too, and i've got to agree with luvwater that Atkins really helps you not crave them so much. It is something about not having them and having lots of protein (and fat for that matter) that makes you not crave them as much. Also sugar busters helps if Atkins isn't something you can do, but I have done both and they both really helped. :p

I've heard that frozen grapes are supposed to help with sugar cravings,I've tried them before(kept them in fridge though),keep them cold and snack on them when you have a craving ,they're really sweet and they fill you up :D

This might sound totally schizo, but when I know I have no will power, I make a promise to myself that I wont touch (insert forbidden food here.) I don't know why it works for me, but once I make that verbal commitment to myself, I don't go back on it.

When I was first starting out, I made the promise to my husband. (Only I didn't tell him about it. For instance, I would say *aloud* that for Jason I would not eat this or that.) Now I do it for me!!

Ok, that was weird to admit, but it works for me. You can all point and laugh at me now :D

Hey Angela, no need to apologize, if it works for you. That's basically how I quit smoking.

Holly, if you figure out how to stop this bad habit, will you let me know!??!

Hey ya'll...as I sit here and write, I'm wondering if there isn't a piece of chocolate anywhere to be found in the house! I have been drinking a lot of coffee with hazelnut creamer which is still a sweet but not cake or candy.

As for Atkins, I tried it a long time ago and I was one of those who got sick on it...terrible headaches and an awful taste in my mouth which was supposedly a good sign...but the doc said no more for you!

If only I could be like Angela and say "no more..." and stop. But, then, if I could, I wouldn't be in this condition in the first place!

Del...we're kindred spirits! I knew that on the cruise! ;)
