It's really too bad this has come down to people having to make a choice between two events within 2 weeks of each other. Amy put a lot of work into getting everything in California arranged. Lots of people were coming. Some went ahead and made reservations based on this big Phen group attending. Then BAM, suddenly there is another event and it forces some people to choose. To me it doesn't matter. SF is driving distance so if 2 people or 20 people show up it's no big deal. But for the people that made the arrangements and put all the time and effort into it, I would feel pretty bailed on. Especially someone like BigD that paid for airline flight and hotel only to find our a week later that the "Big SF Phen Gathering" was now playing backseat to the New gathering. Just a an observation.

I don't understand what your deal is with this trip thing? Initially, the group consisted of Shortie, Amy, BigD, You, Ck, Me. Then PP gets to make it. I started this trip in Nashville because there were a lot of people saying "Wish there was an east coast get together". For me personally, it's cheaper and within driving distance. I want to meet all of you. The only person I know that was iffy about coming to SF was me. I think you know that BigD isn't going to bail on the SF trip. She's actually probably closer to SF than Nashville anyway. The reason a lot of people are coming to the Nashville trip is b/c a lot of people live w/in driving distance and it's much more affordable and convenient for them to go to Nashville. I don't see why there has to be only ONE trip this summer. I had actually suggested earlier in the spring that we have a get together in New Orleans. The SF trip falls in the middle of the summer. That is why I did a poll to see when a good time for everyone was. I tried to space it enough to where the SF people could come to Nashville as well if they wanted to as well as anyone wanting to go to SF too. I posted this topic b/c I didn't want anyone to forget that there was a SF trip planned as well. Not in competition here, Cali. Trying to promote both. At any rate, hope you'll come to Nashville!

My deal? I could really give a rat's rear end about the trip. Want to know what I saw though. I saw you all gung ho about SF. Then you decided that you couldn't get on a plane and suddenly the day after you decided to bail on SF there was a Nashville gathering. Great. I wish everyone would get together. However, I think that with a little more planning and perhaps a conversation or two with Amy (who put a lot of effort into SF) there could have been a way to find a nice central location that wouldn't force people to make a choice between two different events with 2 weeks of each other.
I'd go to Nashville just as fast as anywhere else. However, I can't spend a ton of money for hotel one weekend and two weeks later spend another ton of money to go somewhere else. Just think there could have been a different arrangement. You may not agree, but it wouldn't be the first time. Done with this trip discussion. Everyone have fun.

The same thing happened when there was a trip planned to go to South Beach. I was looking up hotels and spent alot of time trying to help but everyone decided to go to SF. Yeah it wasnt right that everyone decided to go to a different place just because it was convenient for them to go there but what could I do.
I think all that Phat was trying to do was figure out who is all going to the SF trip & the Nashville trip Cali I dont think she was trying to get you mad :)

I was gung ho about the SF trip. I did change my mind b/c A. I don't have the money to go to SF. B. I am afraid of flying. But I'm sure you could give a rat's rear end about that too. I started the Nashville trip b/c I still wanted to meet my phriends and I was bummed about not getting to go to SF. Not only is it cool to meet everyone, but it's also a great motivator. I realize that Amy put in a lot of work for the SF trip, but honestly, there weren't a lot of people that could make it out there anyway. Heck, 4 of the six people who were/are going to the SF trip are in California and within driving distance to SF. Good, I'm glad you're done with this discussion. It's a lose/lose with you. This is exasperating.

Good grief...is it me or does he take every opportunity to pick at you??? heck maybe he wants you or something...lol
Anywho.....I probably won't be able to make either but feel like saying something anyway...lol Guess that is the girl in me!!
I don't think it should be a big deal that another meeting has been planned...heck it isn't fair that people from the east coast should be asked or expected to go all of the way to sf...not only is flying exp but then you also have to pay for a room and everything else. If you can afford it then that is great if not then why not plan another trip closer to other people...
I guess I just don't see the big deal...especially since most of the people going to SF already live near there anyway..so that should have been an eye opener that not a lot of people can go to Sf.
Oh well....I have said my 2 cents worth....lol

I don't know that anyone is getting the point. Read above statement. Bethany is coming from Maine. She can pretty much go anywhere (including Nashville for the same cost. CK is going to have to fly either way more than likely. BigD could have just as easily booked Nashville. I can go wherever. Is this making ANY sense to anyone? Just a little more forethought and cooperation. That's all I'm saying.
Guess I wasn't done. But I think I am now. Thanks for the pic Babygirl. ;) Made my day much better. cramps are all gone now. Take care of the twins for me. :)

It maybe just the way I read it, but Cali was just making a point about that if SF was not acceptable, thats cool and all but no one was saying anything or trying to re-vamp it. Shortie and I were the only ones figureing anything out since no one wanted to make any decisions.. so ofcourse SF was the way to go.

I didn't come up with Nashville initially. It was a common request among the other phriends. So I figured if most can do Nashville, then right on. I initially was thinking Atlanta. Here's the deal w/ cali. I can't even so much as bring up the Nashville trip w/o him being a killjoy. I think that's what myself and others are noticing. Not how I would've liked things to turn out, but I'm really left no choice. I hope ya'll have loads of fun in SF. Wish I could come.

Phat - Are you even READING what I am writing and at least making a semi-attempt to understand what I am saying? Apparently not. If you actually read my posts here you would understand what I am trying to get across and not think that everything is a personal attack on you?

Yeah Cali, I have READ what you wrote. I do get the point you're trying to make. I've gotten your point for 2 days. Now please, offer some suggestions. I've already tried moving the date so that it's not so close to the SF trip. Would you like to suggest a different, more centralized place to meet instead of SF or Nashville? That part I'm a bit unclear on. Like I said earlier. Nashville is within driving distance for a lot of us. And most of us won't fly. I pm'd Amy and apologized to her and told her that I understand the hard work she's put into the SF trip. I'm sorry to all of you if you feel that the SF trip has taken a back seat. I'm up for suggestions from you, Amy, and everyone. I shouldn't have called you a killjoy b/c I don't think that is your intentions. But please just clarify what you want me to do. Would you like me to stop posting about the Nashville trip until the SF trip is over? Would you like to try to find a place where we can all meet up? I'm tired of arguing with you, non stop and I just want to get along with you, and with everyone.

Agreed. So can we kiss and make up, or would you prefer something a bit more intimate? ;)
Well...me being a guy I have a tendency to think in black and white. For instance, if you got to ATA airlines they have a $59 special that can get you from just about anywhere to Chicago for $59 each way. Now, I don't care what sort of ecomony car you are driving you'd be hard pressed ro justify and cost savings by driving. So Chicago would be just one example. San Diego. Southwest Airlines has a special where for less than $200 you can get from just about anywhere in the country to San Diego. Awesome weather, no humidity.
I'm not saying those are the only solutions, but they would be a couple of suggestions that would be economical for everyone. I go to SF all the time. I'd rather go to Nashville. I love seeing new places and meeting new people. My ultimate goal through all of this was to meet my phen friends (surprise...including you phat). In fact, you were one of the people that I was looking forward to meeting most. Still not sure where that got derailed. However, I realize that nothing will ever be perfect for everyone. So if we want to have two seperate gatherings then that's okay. I just felt that it would have been nice to find some common ground that would allow for the most people to attend and meet each other.
So Phat....
Can we please be buds again?
xoxo

Chicago or Nashville would probably be more doable for me, if I can find a cheap ticket. I'm willing to fly as long as my ticket isn't $550. I can't afford that. What is ATA b/c I can do $59. Plus it's up to everyone else. Chicago may even be driving distance to a lot of people. Also Fit and Hella could come too. So ya'll just let me know! Glad we're buds again, Cali! :heartpump:

Been gone for a while and look at what I come back to.......
All I know is that I paid over $500 for airfare and hotel arrangements for the "phen" gathering in SF on July 23-25. Who the F*#$ is going to be there?

BigD- I honestly don't know what is going on anymore. All I do know is that I can't afford $500 plus to go anywhere. I'm betting on my boyfriend giving me enough gas money to get somewhere. I'm pretty sure the SF trip is still a go! Same people, Shortie, Cali, AmyT, Ck, Bethany and you. I wish I could come :( I still want to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge :)
