We are looking at July for a San Fran gathering, pending Ted's free ticket.. (don't ask).

Bethany - Well is is hard to decide on a gathering close so someone who lives 1000 miles away from ANYONE... ;) There's this thing called civilization that seems to be catching on in many parts of the country.... ;)

Just can resist harassing the only person I know that lives in Maine....

Hotel Suggestions -
Option #1 - Downtown. Advantages are that it is close to clubs and close to killer shopping. (Union Square). Hotel suggestions....Argent, Hilton, Pan Pacific (nice, but probably pricey), and NOT sir Francis Drake. Overpriced and SMALL rooms. The Westin is also righ there. They always have the best bed, but I've never stayed there.

Option #2: A less expensive option would be a place like Pleasanton. Sounds odd, but the BART has a station there and it will drop your butt off right in downtown. I think BART runs until 1:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Which would totally ****. But if we are working on a budget it might be a more frugal choice.

Option #3: Downtown Old Sacramento. Much easier airport access. cheaper than SF, but doesn't quite have the "WOW" factor of Downtown SF.

I think if enough people want rooms I can call and set up something so we can stay in the DT area of SF... Group rates rock.

Ill find out about the Holiday Inn (next to Ghiradeli Square and Pier 39) and a few others I had in mind.

Mek - OUCH!!! I've went that route. In any other town I would agree, but in SF if you pay less than $150 you are buying a bed that Sue the Transgendered prostitute probably just rolled out of. LOL

I'd rather bunk with CK.

There are come nice places down in the Marina district that aren't too bad. still going to be at least $100 a night unless you leave the city.

Or we could just take over a Bed and Breakfast place. There are some pretty nice ones in town.

There are some really cool clubs so if we get that sort of crowd in then I doubt they will want to catch an 11:00 p.m. BART to pleasanton. :)

Whoever is booking the rooms should go through the hotel directly! It's much cheaper that way than a service like travelocity. Also...whoever books the rooms needs to talk down the prices. Don't ever go with the rate they first give you. It's always the highest and they will go down in price I promise.

I agree BigD. Once they know you are shopping their prices online you'll get a lot of concessions. Sometimes not deep dollar discounts, but you can almost always get a room upgrade.

I looked on expedia.com and I can get a round trip ticket to SFO from BHM and 2 nights in a deluxe king room at theRenaissance Parc 55 hotel all for $555. How does that sound? Anyone heard of this hotel?

The best deal I can find is on expedia.com at the renaissance parc 55 hotel. It's cheaper than anything else and it looks really nice. That includes round trip ticket and deluxe king or 2 double beds for 2 nights.

Ted, My boyfriend told me all about the takeoff, turbulence and landing. I guess I'd feel better if I knew that if we crashed, I wouldn't feel anything before I died. Like, I don't want to burn slowly or have someone's leg up my @$$ for 23 hours. I think if I have some swillin' sauce I'll be ok. Hey, you up for a roadtrip? I was flying into Taiwan and we were coming into land and all of the sudden....BOOOOOOOOMM!!!!! And a huge flash!!!!! The whole plane shook. People were freaking out. Even the flight attendants were freaked. But we weren't going down so we didn't know what was happening.

Then the pilot comes on and says that the plane had been struck by lightning. For planes this apparently not too uncommon, but I've been on a LOT of planes and it was the second most freaky experience I've ever had on a plane.

We got to the terminal, had a couple of cocktails, and were touching down before he even realized we had taken off. Now he flies EVERYWHERE. You can't get him to drive anywhere now. Just takes too long. I'm just giving you sh$t. :)
