I've been reading the message boards for a couple of days now. I am 5'4" and weigh 175lbs., due to having a desk job for 4 years and gaining 30lbs. I have a few questions to ask all of you who have been using or started Phentermine.
1. Did you ask your family doctor for a prescription to use the product??
2. How did you approach your doctor in letting him know you'd like to use the product?
I have a cousin who has been using it on and off and she recommended it to me. I'd like to get down to at least 120-125lbs. I'm not sure how to approach him on getting a prescription for it. I have an appointment made to go in for a physical early next month and would like to know what you all think. I noticed last time I went in for a physical that at 145lbs. I was considered obese by their chart on the wall. Can someone help me with these questions!! Thanks and another thing, all of you I have seen in the success stories look fabulous!!! Keep up the good work!!!

I just told my doctor that i had always been able to eat right and excersice to lose weight but this time it wasn't working and this was the biggest I had ever beeen. He just gave it to me.I had never heard of it before.some doctors won't prescribe it though, you can get it off the internet if they won't.I have a site that someone gave me that worked well for them. You can PM me if your DR won't give it to you and i will give it to you.You should get a physical first though.

Vix, welcome! :D
When I first started taking Phentermine, I asked my endocrinologist to prescribe them. I see an endocrinologist because I'm hypothyroid and also I have PCOS, so my weight was something that we talked about basically everytime that I went in for a visit anyway. I just asked for the prescription and she gave it to me, no problem. She monitored me during the months that I was on Phen.
Some doctors do not have a problem with prescribing Phentermine, but others do. The best thing to do is to be straightforward and honest and they will either say yes or no.
Good luck to you!

Welcome Vix! Well I was kinda scared to ask my Dr. about it maybe cause Im the more shy type and didnt even know what to say..but what I had said was somethin like this....I was wondering if you could help me with something...I have been overweight for some time now and have really tried to lose the weight but just cant get rid of it. My friend told me about phentermine and it has really helped her alot.Anyway I could try it as well? And then u get down and shine your Dr's shoes! lol..like the others said..some Dr.'s wont hesitate to write that presc. out and then u have those Dr.'s who will just say...start eating better and exerciseing and come back in a mo.and we will see...makes me wanna slap em' silly  Oh and also..U said your cousin uses phen...does she get it from her Dr.? Find out cause if so I would suggest makeing an apt. to go see her Dr. if your Dr. wont prescribe it to u. Good luck and let us know what happens k!

Thank you to all who have responded to my questions. I AM the shy type or maybe its the embarrassment of asking for the Phentermine, I'm not sure. I've always been an active person and not until I reached 30 did I start to really gain weight. CasinoGirl, I will definately keep you in mind if I have trouble getting help from my DR. getting the Phen. I have done some research online, with pricing and all. I do go for a physical on Feb. 3rd. I'm jsut hoping not to have to shine his shoes..lol...I can't go to my cousins DR. as she lives in Kentucky and I don't actually think it was her primary that prescribed it for her, she said she works for 3 physicians so I don't really know. Anyway, thanks and I wish all of you continued luck in your weight loss!!!

If your regular doctor won't give go to a diet doctor. I personally don't feel it is safe to get pills over the internet. Call around to different diet docs and see what they offer.

I agree w/ Determined. I looked up in the phone book under weight loss and found my Dr. I like going to the Dr. so he can keep a check on my BP and anything else that might cause problems. My ins. will not cover the visits and it can get expensive, but I feel I'm heading off future problems by getting the weight off. Go ahead and ask your Dr. all he can do is say no.
