I have been taking phen for little more than a month now and I have lost 20 lbs. Yesterday I just started a new bottle of phen. Well the last week or so of my old bottle it felt like It wasn't making me as full as when I first starting taking them and all the energy I felt when I first starting taking phen was gone. I just figured it was because I was getting used to them, but then yesterday I took a pill from the new bottle and WOW. I felt like I did the first time I took phen. Now I am wondering if keeping them on top of my frig. in my very sunny kitchen could have made them lose potency???

Oh yes!!! I believe that the sunny kitchen would have an effect. Normally with any meds. It says to keep at room temp. So I am sure sun isn't good. How are you doing with your new bottle? Still doing well? How much have you lost and how long has it taken?
I have lost 10 pounds in a month. I think that is good because I don't want to lose to fast. But I am getting a little worried. I hope to lose more soon. I need to lose 50 more pounds.

I've noticed that somedays phen works great, some days it doesn't do squat. I would assume it could lose potency.
I have found such differences from ordering from one manufacturer vs. another. Really! I've also noticed it makes a difference if I take it on an EMPTY stomach or not. If I take it with caffeine or not. Sometimes just the time of day &/or how well I slept the night before. So many different influences affect how well it works. So, it could be the sun or just a fluke thing. Good luck to you!

Since Jan. I have been keeping my phen in a cabinet in my home office and I think it helps alot. Your right though some days it seems to work better than others. I have found that on the days I really need some energy if I drink a cup of coffee after I take my phen it works great. I have been taking phen for almost 3 mos and I am just glad it is still working at all!! I have lost 27 pds so far. I haven't lost in several weeks though and I need to lose at least 4 pds before I go weigh in at my doctors or he won't give me another prescribtion.

Hey Dreamcatcher, I'm with you. I too keep my Phen on top of my fridge. My kitchen doesn't get much sun, but my Phen only kept the hunger and cravings away for the first 2 or 3 days. I don't feel that they give me the kick up the butt that I need!! I'm not losing as well as I hoped to be by now. It's been 4 weeks now and I've lost roughly 9lbs. I have also lost the urge to exercise and drink plenty of water....I go to an aerobics class once a week, but I would prefer something I could do at home (Any suggestions welcome!)...I used to play on my sons' dancemat at least once a day and would burn a min of 200 calories. How do you kieep counting calories and fat content? I hate doing it!
Didn't mean to vent, sorry!
Take care, Lisa xx

Hello All:
Yes, Phentermine loses it effectiveness. I have read on other websites that it should only be used for short-term weight loss (like 6-8 weeks).
I have been using Phen for 8 months, on-and-off, due to the loss of effectiveness. I take it every other day, hoping to delay the loss of effect. It works for about 2 months or so, then I have to go off of it for about a month, then restart again.
I have been looking into the Phen and Prozac combination; supposedly combining the two gives a longer effect to the Phen. But I have been having a difficult time finding a MD that prescribes it.
If you hear anything, let me know - good luck.
Oh yeah, drinking coffee (like a double shot lattee from Starbucks) does give the Phen a big boost :) :( :( :(

This may sound silly....but I was wondering if keeping my phen bottle in the refrigerator would keep it from losing it's potency so fast? I've heard of keeping your coffee grounds in the refrigerator to stay "fresh" longer, and my parents keep their unopened 'smokes' in the refrigerator to stay "fresh".
Just a thought, what do yal think???

Phen is supposed to be stored at room temp (25 C, 75 F) away from extreme heat or extreme cold. Extremely cold temperatures will actually make some drugs lose potency and decrease shelf life, whereas for other drugs, the fridge is the only place they can be stored. Extreme heat will also make a drug lose potency and shorten shelf life. In the pharmacy, phentermine is kept at 25 C, 75 F in order to maintain potency.

Hi Everyone!
I don't know if this will help anyone, but when I started in 2001, I only ate foods with 3 sugars or less and cut out all white foods. At first I didn't excercise much because I weighed 346lbs, but the first month I lost 24lbs. After a month or so after that I could work out alot easier, and the energy I got from the Phentermine was amazing. I took it for quite some time, about 8 months or so, before it started losing it's effectivness. I had a medical procedure done instead of going back on the pills, and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I just got my pills today and I'm starting again tomorrow. I had a much better result from the Phentermine 37.5 than anything I had ever done. There is a book called "Sugarbusters" that I read when I started and although I didn't follow it to the letter, I think it helped alot with my earlier success. I really hope this helps.
GOOD LUCK!!!
