Hi,
I am wondering if i need to take xenical when my meals contain about 5 grams of fat?
And, I was wondering when are you supposed to have the lovely side effects ? how long after you eat your meal do you um, have a bm??

I was on Xenical from March 27th to last week, and, yes, those lovely (messy) side-effects occur about two, or maybe up to four days after you start taking it. I've been on Phentermine for three days, and, guess what? I'm still having those atractive orange side effects.
I wouldn't waste one of those Xenicals on a meal less than 5 grams of fat. Be sure to take it
two times a day, though. I lost 12 pounds from it, but, I like phentermine better.

You definitely shouldn't take a Xen with a meal that contains 5 grams of fat. Look at it this way:
Each gram of fat contains 9 calories. Xen blocks 30% of the fat in a meal. So a meal with 5 grams of fat contains 45 caloies from fat. Xen would block 1/3 of that or 15 calories. Considering what the drug costs that doesn't make sense. Save it for meals containing around 15 to 20 grams of fat. Obviously that's just my opinion. Good Luck!!

I agree with Julia, by the way they invented Xenical for that people who can`t leave without bacon, and all different kind of fatty meat. It`s not a bad medication, just not for everyone.

I have taken Xen for three months now- and I love it. I don't have any side-effects anymore, but it still works for me. My doc says you should always take it three times a days even if your meal has no fat in it to keep the Xen in yiur system. That way when you really need it because you ate too much fat it will work.

I was on Xenical for awhile and have to say I only had problems with it when I ate something with a high fat content which was rare. Some people complain about all of the "ickiness" that they experience and I wonder what they're eating? It is meant to be consumed on a low fat diet.
The drug stays in your system for about 48-72 hours, so even if you skip it during a meal, you'll still have some in your system and may lose the effects at a later meal. If you know you have a big thing coming up that you'll be eating a high fat meal for, stop taking it for a few days so you don't have those side effects.
I am going back on it without hesitation.
