Topamax vs. Phen

My friend asked me if anyone on this forum was taking Topomax and phen? Are any of you taking it with anything else like antidepressants? She has baby weight that she's wanting to lose and has asked me about that? If anyone out there knows of anything about this could you let me know? Thanks!

Please go to the "my experience with phen" board. I posted a little while back about what happened to me while taking Topamax. I highly recommend NOT taking this for weight loss alone. Ill try to find it to bump up for you.

Thanks for bumping that for me. I don't take it, this is the first thing I've ever had to take to help me lose weight. (Phen I mean) She is taking too many medications for a lot of things I told her I wouldn't suggest taking anything else anyway. Thanks so much

I took Topamax for a period of time for migraines and the neurologist said it causes weight loss so I thought, "Why not!" I was on it for three months and had terrible side effects including memory loss, inability to carry on conversations, attention difficulties, mood swings. It was awful! I went off of it and returned to my normal self. The weight loss wasn't anything I even noticed. I know all meds effect people different ways but would be cautious taking this med for weight loss alone. I have taked Phen (30 Mg.)on and off since August and have reached my goal weight.
