Meridia to Phentermine

I have been on Meridia for about 2 months and have lost 18 pounds, I was on Meridia about 2 years ago and lost about 48 and gained 10 back so started back on it and now want to lose about 20 more total. been stuck at the 18 lbs for about 2 weeks told doctor and she put me on Phentermine ill see how it works. I did FenPhen about 10 years ago. Loved It. what are others suggestions about the Phentermine, for me seems to cheap to work. I love the Meridia but it is expensive about $135 for 30. But it works.

What does Meridia do? Is it an appetite supp. or a fat burner?

MERIDIA works by affecting appetite control centers in the brain. It reduces food intake by increasing satiety, or feeling of fullness. MERIDIA is not an appetite suppressant. It is used for people who want to lose 30lbs or more. Its really expensive but it works good $125 for 30 pills and that is 10mg. they come 5,10,15. I was on 15mg.

Hey Congratulations on your weight loss! You've done really well. I didn't do so well on Meridia. Actually I did't lose anything on it. It is expensive compared to the Phen. But, I love my Phen! I bet if you take a break from the Meridia by trying something else. The scale will satrt moving again! I've lost 19 on the Phen in 6 weeks. It REALLY controls your appetite! Good Luck with it!

Thanks for the input Kim, I started it on Sunday so well see this sunday. I walk about 3-5 miles daily also. Im on 15mg once a day but i have been taking 2x daily one about 7am and one about 1pm. I dont think they are as strong as Meridia and i was on 15mg Meridia and took in the am. I hope it works want to lose about 20 more. Im at 150 now Starte at 168 on Meridia about February.

Hey Dawn,
Did your Doctor tell you take two at those times? I'm on the 30mg. I don't work so I'm never up to take mine that early! :D I take mine between 10-11 on an empty stomach. Then I eat a couple hours later. Works FOR ME!! I don't know how many times poeple say you HAVE to eat breakfast! I have NEVER in my life eaten breakfast on a regular basis. When I started dieting I did just what everyone suggested by eating several times during the day. But just found this did not work for me. Once I ate early I wanted to eat ALL DAY LONG! Just wanted to say it might take you a few days to figure out what works best for you and how the Phen will react to what your doing. Everyone's body is different!

I think you asked about side effects in the other forum. I'll just add, the only side effect I ever got was dry mouth. I never did get all the energy everyone talk about! :mad: Really wish I had! But from what I read the energy and not sleeping at night goes away after a few days! If you have any questions feel free to E-mail me

My Doctor told me to take one a day, but i did not feel it was as good as Meridia so i took it upon myself to take two. haha. I took Phen many years ago, so i know i can handle the two. I will give this a week and see if i like or i will go back to the Meridia. As i said i was at a stuck point so maybe being of Meridia for a week will even help.

Well not that I am aware of and I just got a refill about 3 weeks ago for 3 months if this Phen dont get me out of the standstill mode. So i hope not or ill have to stock up.

Read the article, its about like the Fen-Phen scare about what 10-12 years ago when the took the Fen off. A lot of people who get these diet pills just get them of the internet at high prices. My doctor which is a Dietician and her main practice is diet and family practice. To get on Meridia I had to go through a physical, liver test, thyroid test and about 5 other test to make sure I was ok to do this. As I have heard a lot of Doctors don’t do this. I have a friend that went to her ob/gyn and said something about it and he gave her a 3 month subscription with no hesitation. So to me anything is going or can kill ya. Just like the tanning bed thing. I live in Illinois are doctors are very strict at magor hospitals here. Dont know about where you are.

I have a question, at work yesterday, my "friends" all bombarded me with this info from her weight loss dr about meridia and how unsafe it was. i have been taking it only for a week now and the only side effects i have is the headache and extreme sleepyness, what side effects have you had? my dr said that meridia was ok so far.

I really had no side effects, for the first two weeks, i seemed to yawn alot about 2-3 hours after taking and dry mouth. other than that not a single side effect. I love it as i said it took it about 2 years ago and lost about 48lbs in about 3 months before i got married in 10-2000. and i gained about 10 back up to february this year, that is do to me not exercicing at all. and i started back in February and lost 18 to about 2 weeks ago when i was at a standstill. when doc gave me 2 months of phen to get me out of the hole. So thats about it. And my doctor says that it is ok also. Good luck.

Thanks alot, i said that i was going to try it for a couple of weeks, i know for sure i am not hungry and i feel ok, i am really going to monitor myself until i can get back to the dr office and see what she says.

I been taking Meridia for 2 months now, but not eveyday about 3 times a week cause it is so exspensive and I think one of my side effects is I cant sleep at night, it does work and probably would work better if i took more of it, so what about this Tenuate Dospan and Phentermine, can you take those two with Thyroid medicine?

i dont know anything about those ten (?) med. what does it do? I take meridia everyday and have noticed some improvement w/ my diet, but i am still going to ask my dr to give me something thats a little more affordable. meridia is too expensive. i paid 54 for 15 pills.

Our histories sound the same regarding having been on Meridia and now going to Phentermine. Actually, I was only on 2 months and lost 20 lbs. (I have another 40-50 to go.) But, I just cannot afford to pay $106 for 15 mg. at Costco anymore. My MD said he would call in Adipex-P (Phen 37.5 mg.) if I wanted to change. So, I have an ** waiting for me at Costco. I took my last Meridia today. I also have seen the lawyer ads on tv about lawsuits, so even though my MD hasn't mentioned it, I'm kind of glad to be going off of Meridia, although, like you I had no side effects except for dry mouth and some yawning.

Hey Lindsay,

Congrats on the weight loss, I have 2 months of the Phen and i have a month of meridia in purse and refill, I think i like meridia better, whith PHen i dont fill hungry but if i decide to eat, i feel i can eat and tend to eat more. but that may only be once aday. Been on diet for total of 15 weeks and have lost 21lbs and 13" total need to do about 25 more pounds. I also see the ads but dont have the effects that they mention. I would like some of that $$$$ hahah. Well i was put on 15mg of Phen but i been taking it 2xs a day one at 6am and 1 about 1pm. I may call doctor to see about the dosage. she tells me not to lose more than 2 per week cause its easier to gain back if you lose to much too fast and i am at about 2-3 per week since i have been on PHen i have lost 6 as of the 2nd week.
