Hi Texasmom,
I too am a longterm depression drug user (celexa now used to be paxil) and just started phen two days ago. I kinda had to talk my doc into it but am glad I did. Those carb cravings are completely gone. Before nothing would satisfy me. There are about six depression meds that can be combined with phen to create the so called phen-pro. I don't think paxil is on the list but maybe it is. Info is on this website under obesity meds I think. Good luck to you! I want to keep in touch with people combining phen and treating depression because that it the boat I'm in.

I am now taking Celexa with Phentermine, and it is working well for me. I was taking Wellbutrin with my Celexa, but have stopped it and am taking Phentermine. I also cut my Celexa down from 40mg a day to 20mg. So far I am able to cut one 37.5mg tablet of Phentermine in 1/2, take it around 11:30 and it helps me through dinner.
What are the doses you all are using?

Hi thegirl & texasmom,
I take 60 mgs of celexa and 30 of phen. I'm probably going on my third year with celexa. I seem to have to bump it up each year to keep working. I've been taking 30 mg of phen once in the a.m. for exactly two weeks but find it wears off by the end of the day some. I may want to try the twice a day approach. I go back to my doc in 2 weeks I'll ask him then. It seems like alot of drugs but I'm feeling really good. I did have a bout with the PMS cravings but that lasted 2 days instead of 2 weeks. Also I've been a little melancholly. I'd much prefer the so called 'phen high'. I just don't think I'll be that lucky. I've got to start an exercise program and need some motivation there. Take care.

hi all..i am new, today is my first day in the forum... monday was my first day of phen..i've never taken anything before but i've just reached a point that i *knew* i needed help and started exploring online and found all the phen sites...in regards to this thread, i have been taking 75 mg. of effexor for 4 months now and was *elated* to see that it might actually work to my benefit to be on both..time will tell..i went with the 37.5 tab..it's only been 2 days, but i can't say i feel any difference in suppressing my appetite...there's a slight difference for the first 2 or 3 hours, then i feel as if i haven't taken anything...i'm staying positive in regards to the phen for a bit longer, hoping it ''kicks in'' this week...again,time will tell..

Hi chelle,
I see you are in Tempe, I am in Phoenix. What a small world! I think you should hang in there yet. I have a friend at work who is a long time phen user and she says your body needs at least 2 months to really adjust to the drug. Also make sure you take on an empty stomach. I take my celexa in the pm and the phen in the am. Good luck to you!

texasmom,
I think you should have some chips and dips just control your portions and how often you eat it. We do have to change the way we eat forever to get and stay thin but you have to have what you like. You can do it!! Go for it!

Hello everyone. I decided to post here since you folks sound a lot like me. I have always had problems with depression and was on effexor for over 2 years. While on the effexor alone I lost over 30 lbs. Well, over that two year period my dosage of effexor got upped to the max and it finally stopped helping. My Dr. put me on paxil for one week and after I told him I wouldn't take it because it made me want to eat everything in sight, he switched over to zoloft. But, on zoloft I have the same problem.
(please note that during this period of med changed I am totally freaking out. Is all of my hard work going to go down the drain??)
Well, I ordered a prescription of phentermine and it has really helped. Then, I saw all of the research on the phen combo and a lightbulb went off.
I go to the dr next week however I am scared he won't want to help me because my bmi is 25 which is very healthy for me. But, if I go on another anti depressant alone, I'll gain my weight back in a matter of months!!!
Does anyone have any advice.. please help...i'm having a tough time!!!!

Hi Stavegia,
I haven't been visiting the forum for awhile. Hope things are going well for you. sometimes I think the Dr's are so out there about the phen pro combo. It was the phen-fen scare. Did your Dr. perscribe for you?
