Hi Everyone. I'm am new to this website and will just be starting phen today. I am orbidly obese (what a horrible thing to say!) and have been taking meds long term for depression. Currently 40mg of celexa. I'm wonder about other peoples experience with this specifically weight loss success and side effects and dosages and types of anti depressant used.
Thanks.

welcome, i am also pretty new. i dont post much, but i really enjoy reading everyones posts. it helps me feel better to read about everyones success.
i started phen on 3-9 weighing 154, today i weighed in at 141. i've been stuck here for a few days. just started working out today hoping that will help.
i too was on celexa for depression. i took it for quite a while, but recently went off of it because the side effect that i had was increased appetite, and weight gain. this made me more depressed so my dr. and i decided i would go off of it and see how i did. if i felt i needed something he would give me something different to try. i'm doing okay so far. my main concern now is getting back to my 125 weight.
my pharmacist told me that there are some anti-depressants that will counteract with the phen such as amitryptaline, which i was also on for headaches, and to help me sleep. he told me not to take them together. take phen in the morn. and the anti-dep. at night
this may not answer any of your questions, but i hope maybe helped some. good luck, i wish you well :)

I have been taking the phen since 3/19 and I wasn't sure if I was going to take my prozac with it or not, so I checked on a couple of different sites and saw that it was ok. I don't know about you, but for me, I am depressed because I am so overweight. So who knows, if you are like me, and begin to loose, you may not need anti-deppressents either. Hope this helps!!!!!

Hi,
I take my celexa at night and the phen in the morning and it seems to be working. I lost 5lbs the first week. When I took both meds together i was having a problem with anger and depression so i switched back to the way I was originaly taking and things seem better.
good luck

Thanks for responding to me. I also plan to take celexa at night and phen in the morn. I was diagnosed with depression about 10 years ago and have worked my way through paxil and now celexa. I start with a small dose and increase when it stops working. I think I'm a lifer in that category. I have been on and off and have definitely decided on is better. The only problem is I've gained over 100 lbs. I don't feel the meds have made me gain. Possibly I've not had high enough doses. Anyways I'm very happy to be trying phen and had to talk my Dr. into it a bit. But he'll keep checking blood pressure, thyroid, etc. so I feel good about that. I'll keep ya posted on the phen. Anxious for it to work.

Hi Texasmom,
Sounds like you and I are on the same path. I also have 100lbs or more to lose, about the same height, am taking antidepressants and am just starting the phentemine. Maybe we can help each other out with motivation, etc. I did take paxil until it stopped working for me. It was a good med for me with no side effects. Keep in touch and good luck to you. I haven't got my phentermine script yet but should tomorrow.

twinmkr,
I see you have lost over 100 lbs. How did you do it and how long did it take you? I also see you are from WI. That is my home state but I have lived in AZ for the last 15 years.

HI
I couldn't not reply I am also a WI farm girl that is from Bonduel but in WA since I was in the Army I ended up out here married with a 7 1/2 yr old. I had to fight my weight ever since I was young, this is the end of that though I am really excited about not having like 2 sets of "fat" clothes LOL ohh that is bad I got rid of 1 set when we moved but would really like to get rid of the 18's. I lost 15 pounds so far 3rd week started at 227, goal weight of 180 by July I am going for it.
Good Luck

Hi Guys,
Hope you all have a great Easter! Those of you from WI, those of you battling depression and weight loss and just weight loss! I'm on my 5th day of phen and feel great. I did read an article on combining phen and antidepressants that I hadn't read before and it was a little alarming. Still, I'm deciding to stick with it for awhile.
