I've just been to see the Dr and have a new prescription for Xenical that I'll have filled today. Need to lose lots and will be starting tomorrow morning.

Can anyone tell me how you are doing on Xenical alone? Not combined with anything else?

I've tried lots of different diets but after a time I go back to my old eating habits. This is the first time for a prescription drug for weight loss so I am hoping it works for me.

Thanks.

Hi Trudie. Have been on Xenical for a month now. I took it a couple of years ago and lost 3 stones in 3 months in conjunction with a weight watchers diet. Because of lack of control this time Im also taking IONAMIN to curb the scoffing. Its working! the sight of food makes me ill.......have to force myself.
(totally strange for me, as Im such a piggy).
Stick to a calorie controlled diet, not too much fat (if any) and the weight will drop with no unpleasant side effects!(Ive lost 1 and 3/4 stones in 6weeks this time.

Hi. I've been taking Xen for about a month. If you can get a prescription, it is worth a try. It has no chemical effects on your body except for fat blocking, so mixing it with other drugs is usuall not a problem.

My advice, work up SLOWLY from 1 pill to 3 max and make sure you stay on a low-fat diet to minimize side effects. Also, take plenty of vitamins because it can block some absorption of them along with the fat.

Anything that may help is worth a shot. Just don't rely on it to have a field day at McD's. Once you get the side effects, you'll know what I mean...

Good luck!

I just started Xenical and Phentermine on Friday, and so far so good...I have been on Xenical for a month prior...but didn't quite follow a planned low fat diet and the side effects got to me....I stopped taking them. The doctor prescribed Phent. to curb the appetite and it seems to be working great! Good luck!

I took xenical for a little over a month and watched what I ate and at the end only noticed about a 2ib weight loss, I don't feel it encourages good eating habits because even though the side effects are uncomfortable you can still live with them. I started taking Phentermine 5 days ago, and already I have noticed a huge difference...I have a lot of energy, so it's hard to sit still, it also makes you hardly want to eat, I don't have any cravings for fatty or sweet foods....it seems to me that if you get into the routine of exercising when you get off the medication you will stick to that, also it seems like the less you eat, over a period of time your stomache seems to get smaller so when you do eat, you are eating less. I would definetly choose Phentermine over Xenical

Hi..
Speaking strictly for me, Xenical was probably the single largest pitfall of my weight loss program. I know it's only recommended for those with a higher BMI than I have but I just couldn't resist when my friend (who has a legal prescription) offered me a month's supply so I could lose the last ten pounds. I started Xenical at 120mg (the recommended) a day, being female 5'3 and 134lbs and overly hopeful. In all honesty, Xenical made me think I could eat foods that I had for so long denied myself...not that I went crazy, I was very careful but I was under the impression that I could eat food- so I did...almost always healthy. But I found it easier to give into cravings---my mind would just justify the calories as being undigested and that was a horrible trap to fall into, rightly or wrongly. I gained 3lbs on Xenical that way...always thinking the pill would gulp all the fat and time and again, I emerged from the scale disappointed. All in all, I gained 3.5 lbs in a month on Xenical. I'd recommend Phentermine or Meridia- the appetite suppressants get the job done without the fancy tricks. I like my medicine to battle the source of the problem and the problem seems to be in my mind, not my stomach.

Since I never really went overboard with fat or calories, I didn't experience any side effects other than the occasional gas which would only come when I ate soy protein. I did have "oily spotting" once and it was very light. No horror stories here other than weight gain.

:) Of course, we all vary
