MY YOUNGER SISTER IS TAKING PHENTERMINE TO LOSE 10 POUNDS, SHE IS 125 POUNDS, CERTAINLY NOT OBESE. WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF TAKING THIS DRUG WHEN NOT OBESE? ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS DIFFERENT THAN FOR OBESE INDIVIDUALS? IM QUITE CONCERNED AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK.
THANKS.

Hi, I weigh 135, and want to lose 15 pounds. I started Bontril today. Any tips?

tish,

the side effects would certainly not be different for obese versus the non-obese. From what I can tell from the postings, all side effects, if any, are based on the individuals, as well as the amount of weight loss. Your sister would be smart to surf this site and take note of the varying experiences. Some people have NO side-effects and some that have, will post different remedies that have worked for them. I think the general diagnosis would be trial and error..

good luck..

by the way, if you dont mind, I'm not familiar with Bontril. What is it?

Yesitslee...

I'm not kris, but it doesn't look like she's gonna answer you :p

Bontril is just a brand name for the appetite suppressant PHENDIMETRAZINE TARTRATE. It is also available under many different names: Adipost, Adphen, Plegine, and Statobex...just to name a few.

Its effects are very similar to that of phentermine; the side effects and interactions almost mirror each other. Most of the information available about phendimetrazine tartrate states that the drug should be taken alone and only for a short period of time (but I think that decision should be made by you and your doctor). The two most common dosages are the 35 mg, which are usually administered 2 to 3 times a day with meals, and the controlled release (105 mg), which are usually taken one time in the morning...much like phentermine :D
