My family Dr. who prescribed Phen for me says that it's addictive but not in the way that normal addiction works. He says he wouldn't worry unless a person was at goal, under weight or near anorexic and still felt like they needed to take it. You might get headaches or shaky when not taking it but a true addiction is when you feel like you need it to function. I sometimes get headache when I wait until later to take it but a IBU works just fine to rid me of that problem. I was on Phen last year for 3 months and then stopped for 9 months and started it again 2 months ago for another 3 month cycle. i was afraid of becoming addicted too and decided to take myself off slowly but ended up taking myself off in less than a week. No addiction, and No problems! That was after 3 months. My husband was also worried about me becoming addicted and that is why I had the conversation with my doctor. some people have an addicting personality which means they are prone to become addicted to things easier than others are. i am llike that but still not addicted. I have 30 days left of my script and have no intentions of taking anymore Phen after that. i don't forsee a problem of going off either. With this said i would also recommend talking to your doctor about your concerns. if you have been addicted to substances in the past you may need to be monitored carefully or taken off altogether. good Luck and I hope I helped.
