Well Timi, if you stick with us hopefully you'll be within one pound of your goal weight by the time we're done! Glad you're back.

Chester, glad you're here!

Gottadothis, you're more than welcome to come hang out if youd like. We'd love to have you.

Well I just got my first email about the 10 pounds in 10 weeks challenge from the state. It basically said that before you begin, it’s important for you to get an idea of a healthy personal body weight. The CDC suggests using the Body Mass Index (BMI) for making this determination.
Here is the cdc website to determine your BMI.
http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/

They also show how to do a quick estimate of calorie needs:
Please note that this is an estimate of calorie needs. It does not take into account age, gender, metabolic rate, or body fat percentage. It is not an exact calculation, rather it is to be used as a ball park figure.

If you are very active, multiply your current weight (in pounds) by 17
If you are moderately active, multiply your current weight (in pounds) by 15
If you are inactive, multiply your current weight (in pounds) by 13
This estimate is the amount of calories you will need to maintain your weight. To lose weight, deduct between 250 and 500 calories from this number. This will be your calorie goal.

So I'm starting this at 151.
151 x 15 (moderately active) = 2265 to maintain my current weight
2265 - 500 = 1765 would be my calorie goal.

(wow, too bad I haven't been sticking to that number or less for the last month or so...had I been sticking to that I wouldn't be where I am now. )

Have a great evening!
