A scale that weighs in half pounds must find the closest half or whole pound to what you weigh, or else it always rounds up to the nearest half or whole pound. Like if you weigh 150.3, a half pound scale will probably show 150.5. If you weigh 150.2, it might round down to 150, or it might round up to 150.5.
