Given To Heart Patients To Lose Weight Quickly But Healthily

I came across this soup last year. There are a few going around, and I've tried most, and been unhappy.

This one is based on tomatoes, so it's like having a minestrone soup, which I think appeals to most people.

You'll lose with just replacing 1 meal, but for rapid loss replace 2 meals per day with this soup. AND DON'T HAVE ANY BREAD WITH IT

Ingredients are:

2 smaller tins (400g) of chopped green beans
2 large tins (800g) of crushed/chopped tomatoes
2 large tins or 4 smaller tins of beef consume’
1 whole celery chopped (leaves also)
1 whole spring onion bunch chopped (tops also)
4 carrots peeled and sliced
1 packet of vegetable soup mix
8 cups of water

Method:

Combine all ingredients in very large saucepan.
Bring to boil
Cook for 45 mins or until celery and carrots are cooked.

N.B: I think the soup is fine on it's own. But I've added a few things to give it some extra flavour and bulk. I added 2 handfuls of macaroni, 2 handfuls of lean bacon pieces, 1 handful of corn kernels. It helps to fill it out a little, and then you don't even want bread with it. You'll need a huge pot to cook it in. It's also freezable. I'm just replacing my lunches and giving it to my 2year old as well, not for weight loss, but to give him all the essential nutrients that come from the vegies.

They give this recipe to heart patients that need to lose weight quickly, and safely, before they go under surgery. It's been put out by the Heart Foundation Of Australia.

Give it a go. Aside from anything else. If helps curb the appetite, and helps shed more. Then it can only be a good thing.

It's also fairly cheap - using supermarket brand tins for the ingredients, and lasts quite a while. I don't often get bored of it either.
