"A Ravenna man was killed early Sunday morning when his motorcycle was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 76 in Brimfield.
The Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said Russell P. Shanley, 47, of 6228 Wall Street, was eastbound on I-76 west of Tallmadge Road when he traveled off the left side of the road and struck the cement divider. The patrol said he was then in the westbound lane of I-76 when he was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by David E. Naples, 54, of Tennessee.
Shanley’s 1999 Harley Davidson was totaled in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation."
Russ was quite often having a few beers with friends and then hoppin on that bike and riding home.
Drinking and driving never turns out good. This guy was a wonderful father and so sweet. Please keep his 25 yr old daughter Monica in your thoughts. I was friends with her in HS, her father was all she had left.
