Ginny I am sorry to hear that those things are going on and it doesn't sound quite legit.

I have worked for attorneys that did just a little employment law. Every state has subtle differences in law but there are federal laws as well, so I cannot specifically answer your questions.

However, I recommend you contacting your local "wage and hour" office, it will be listed under federal government listings in the phone book, or call an employment law attorney. Many will talk to you on a consultation basis without charging you a fee.
