I sometimes think we put too much emphasis on the wrong numbers rather than the nutritional value of what we eat. If we put our calories in nutritionally sound foods (such as natural peanut butter) - we would all be in better shape today. I eat natural peanut butter every morning (on a piece of Whole Grain - Ezekial toast). I usually only use 1 tbsp (which is half of the "serving size" listed on the jar). It keeps me satiated and fufills my craving for PB. Now I recently read an article in Fitness magazine on the benefits of peanut butter. (I wish I could quote it, but I think I've passed it on to a friend) but I do remember specifically this.... It's packed with protein. The fat content is primarily unsaturated and all naturally occuring, and the fats it does contain are those which our body needs to stay healthy and feel full. Remember... this is only the natural peanut butter. Plus it has fiber! This magazine article actually recommended it as an alternative to butter or margarine on your toast every day. Bottom line... Eat Your peanut butter and skip those afternoon pretzels or low fat chips.
