For those of you who also got thyroid meds when you got your Phen **: I am on thyroid medicine for an underactive thyroid. The info sheet that comes with my meds says to never take thyroid medication as a weight loss aid. I would seriously question the doc as to why he put you on it without doing a thyroid panel. I may be wrong, but if you take thyroid meds without needing them, you may set yourself up for future problems (like, your thyroid not working later...) I'm eager to lose weight too, and he's a doctor and you should be able to trust him, but perhaps ask him/her this when you see him/her next time.
