Maybe this will help.
To determine your daily caloric needs to MAINTAIN your current weight:
1. Multiply your weight by 10.
2. If you are sedentary, multiply the figure
you got by 1.4, if you do some form of
regular exercise, multiply by 1.6, and
if you are very active with a strict
exercise regime, multiply by 1.7.
3. A pound is 3,500 calories. Decrease your
caloric intake by 500 calories a day and
you lose a pound a week (500 x 7 = 3500)
4. Adding exercise not only burns more of the
calories but also boosts your metabolism
and keeps it boosted for serveral hours
after you finish exercising.
