Hi, I've been away from the board for some time now, so sorry about the delayed response. My doctor is not mainly a diet doctor per se, I have seen him for a number of reasons. However, when I did go in, we talked about my weight, and he was fine with giving me a prescription. He only gives a one month prescription, and he likes to see you lose at least 10 lbs. a month. He will usually give them to you for 3 to 4 months at a time, then he suggestes waiting for a while (which is a good idea because they stop working after that time period anyway). I'm sure that as long as your health it good and your blood pressure is within a good range, that he will not have a problem writing you out a prescription.
