Adipex-P is an appetite suppressant that is manufactured by Gate Pharmaceuticals. The active ingredient within Adipex-P diet pills is phentermine hydrochloride. Adipex-P is a stimulant which is molecularly similar to amphetamines. By affecting the central nervous system Adipex-P causes suppression of appetite and is also known to increase energy levels within some patients.
Adipex-P is prescribed in conjunction with a program of exercise and a restricted diet to aid the heavily over weight to lose weight. It is important that patients taking Adipex-P adopt new ways of eating and increased levels of exercise in order to achieve maximum weight loss. These new behaviors should be continued once the course of Adipex-P has been completed to avoid gaining back the weight lost.
Adipex-P is a controlled substance and can be habit forming. The FDA recommends that Adipex-P be used for a period of no longer than 3 months (12 weeks).
